From what I could gather he hadn't done too good of a job. Fumbling the league last year and winning it this year with slow and dull football seemed to be the overriding opinion.
As a professional side in the northern premier they were always gonna have a big advantage, so wins may have been in spite of, not because of him and his tactics.

Julio Arca, ex Sunderland player is the new manager.
If I recall correctly he retired from the pro game following a very good career at both Sunderland and Middlesbrough and got a retirement insurance pay off. He really missed playing and restarted with a local pub team before joining step 6 Shields. He helped them get promoted twice, but I believe that if had carried on at step 4 then he would have had to repay the insurance company and so retired again.
In my idealistic eyes he's one of the good guys (I did see him play for Shields at step 5 and he was class even with reduced mobility) and I wish him well

Gary Elphick and Jon Meeney have resigned from Hastings.
Rumour has it that the playing budget would be cut because work needs to be done on the Pilot Field, in the absence of any movement on the new ground.

I've never been to The Pilot Field, but from what I can see it appears it needs a fair amount of TLC in areas.

Just to complete the original story, I was at the Newton Aycliffe v South Shields PSF last week and was told that Kevin Phillips had asked for a large increase in the team budget for this season and when this was refused he chose to leave.

Interesting, just hope the vacancy isn't filled by Buddy. I'm clinging to something Hinsh said in one of his interviews about Darren only going so he could scratch his itch to play as long as he could. Reading between the lines it looked like Hillians only have him on loan and he'll be back in our coaching team before long 🙏🏻 |

And this has happened very soon after their Under 18s manager was named as Assistant First Team manager. And two or three of 'his' current Under 18s have begun to feature in the first team. I wonder if any bookie would give me odds on him getting the gig...? |
