What a beautiful game!
Hatrick Pearce, Cashman adding one and Robbo only taking minutes to do what he does. Great threat from well delivered crosses today, some excellent performances (Felix, Kane, Chadwick) and Klass showing why he's trusted in the middle when he came on. Good intensity despite the usual scrappy 20 minutes in the second half. Decent save by Rees before the game was under control but I think we can all accept the red changed the game. There weren't many protests on the pitch about it so sounds a fair decision.
Although less than hoped, well done the Maidstone fans that made the trip down.
And finally... a very different Hinsh on the touchline with a camera in his face! Some more restraint and lots of praise through his competitively gritted teeth π! Got to keep the show PG somehow!

The Maidstone tactic of kick us off the park really didn't work today, no complaints about the red card and I personally thought they could have had another off, though its hardly surprising given that Hatzidakis was the ref!!
We were really clinical and didn't rise to their physicality and played our game, it favours us more when teams are more expansive and we can exploit the space!

But for a wobbly few minutes after half time that was perfect π Have to say my hoop puckered when Joel got the yellow card in the second half. Having missed who got the yellow first half I was relying on FWP... and they had given it to Joel π¬ Hadzidakis is bad enough to have missed a double yellow and when he then called Joel over shortly afterwards I thought parity was going to be restored. Having already got a goal back and been on top for a decent spell, that would've been a massive turning point. But it wasn't, it was clearly FWP's error and very soon normal service was resumed at 4-1. That game was all the same good stuff from St Albans without the self destruct stuff. Bloody brilliant, more of that consistency please π MOTM picks himself, the boy can do no wrong. Imagine where we'd be if last seasons NLS top scorer had been trusted to lead the line from game one... rather than game 'ah, the new guy ain't all that' plus one π€·π» Pleasing to see the gate rise, even accounting for the added away following that's still up on home supporters from Chippenham. One small observation... I'm sure its a complete coincidence but game one since the documentary crew was announced as being at Woodside... the flag count more than doubled and the repertoire of songs increased dramatically. #wherewereyoulastweek? π Elsewhere... Hinsh post match - YouTube
George Elokobi post match - YouTubeRefreshing honesty about the red card, but how hard would it have been to have given even a smidgen of credit to us? π Anyhoots, up to 5th and now within striking distance of 2nd!!... " its a crazy game Saint"... NLS Table - Link

Football 5 hoffball 1 Didn't see the sending off but their kick and rush tactics ( and I mean kick any thing ) got them a comprehensive beating first half . Changed and tried to play second spell when down to 10 and looked reasonable but were out thought , out forught and outclassed by a strong team performance . Could and should have been 8 . Pleased for Ollie but couldn't pick a man of the match as everyone put in a shift and played without fear . Big shout out for their away support , but I personally wouldn't cross the road to watch that brand of hoffball π·π·π·

Wasn't it Joe Rye who got the yellow near the end of the first half?

Wasn't it Joe Rye who got the yellow near the end of the first half? So it would seem, someone told Football Web Pages something else though. I'd love to know who because I don't need excitement like that and where there's blame there's a claim π€£

Wow, that performance was something special. Adam got his tactics absolutely spot on today. Odie playing a roving right back and Kane a roving left back. Joe Felix ripping them apart down their left flank with Nicky and Kane doing the same on their right flank. Ignoring the sending off, we could have been even more in front at half time. Credit to their Manager he flooded midfield at half time and we lost our momentum but the introduction of Michael Klass and his physicality restored the balance, leading to another two excellently taken goals. Very pleasing performance where the "Worthing Way" of playing was very much much in evidence.

Good spot on the flags Keithsson, my mate keeps them in his flag bag and has been abroad the last couple of weeks!
Re the noise it really does help having a roof to be able to go through the entire songbook both halves. Hopefully we either get that roof at the Elmo's end sharpish or segregate all games. It makes a difference.

I had a feeling before kick off today that it was going to be our day!!
Fabulous performance from all over the team!! I feel young Chadwick has made a huge difference him and Cashman bossed the midfield. Fantastic hatrick from Ollie got the bit between his teeth now. I thought Maidstone were awful personally. How on earth they are 2nd in the league and in the the 3rd round of the FAC with football like that is beyond me. I was very impressed that we didn't react to their street fighting anti football tatics, we just dusted ourselves down and got on with it. I hope Finn's injury wasn't to bad. I think we have found away to get at this big physical teams. Maidstone couldt cope with our quick passing on the ground.
Definitely a stone wall red, studs in the face.
Massive fan of Joe Felix love watching him play!

In all honesty we didn't 'get involved with the dark art antics' and just 'got on with it' simply because we haven't got those sorts of players. We've not somehow decided to take some kind of moral high ground, its more a case of us having none of those weapons in our locker.
And that's fine on our own surface when we're clearly on top and flying. But we've discovered to our cost that on the archetypal 'wet Wednesday in Weston' we're simply too nice and just roll over to have our tummies tickled.
Its not games like that which will make the difference, we've seen it time and time again. Its the games where the chips are down and we need some fight, some craft, some guile, some heart, some aggression.
Yes its nice to have the moral high ground in the housery stakes but we all know we desperately need more of it in our squad. Not for these games but we won't succeed by being 'nice' all season.
And I wouldn't take that performance as any kind of celebratory back slap that we've mastered the direct opponent either. There was a period in the first half once they won their first corner where we looked like a boxer on the ropes, totally powerless to stop their aerial dominance. A few scrambled goal line clearances and wasteful headers followed that on another day could've changed the game completely. Thankfully we stemmed the amount of corners we were conceding after that spell but we were hopelessly under equipped to negate it.
Don't get me wrong, yesterday was still a brilliant performance. I just feel tougher challenges lie ahead and we are still short of the full weaponry required to deal with every circumstance.

Have to admit want looking forward to yesterday based on the performance at their ground. But what a difference. Really enjoyed the first half some really good football. And sometimes you just need to be lucky like that little spell they had in front of our goal. Second half only saw 15 mins of it as I had to go to work. But was listening to rebel yell on my way there. Letβs hope this is a start now of some good performances that result in 3 points

Fantastic all round team performance. I thought playing Sorondo at right back and releasing Felix further forward gave us a lot more attacking threat. Most definitely two of our best signings pre season. Cashman is improving game on game and there is certainly much more to come from him. When the midfield clicks with him and Aguiar linking up itβs a joy to watch. Maidstone going down to 10 was definitely the game defining moment but weβve not always taken advantage in those situations (Slough away last season). Game management was a lot better and when we win the second ball battles as we often did yesterday, our undoubted class shows through. A decent result at Hemel will set us up nicely for the derby games over Xmas
