Last season we drew the away game with Hemel 1-1 and won the home game 3-1. Having already drawn at home 1-1 symmetry says it surely has to be a 3-1 away win on Saturday… right?

Following last nights 2-0 away defeat at Slough The Tudors are 17th with 28 points from 23 games. We are 5th (37/22).

In the form stakes their defeat last night was their 5th league zero in a row. They now haven't picked up so much as a point since the 1-0 home win over Eastbourne on the 25th November. Unsurprisingly that puts them last but one in the league for form with just three points from the last available eighteen. We have risen to 7th on overall form with 11/18.
Respective home and away form reads a little better for them sitting as they are in 14th place for home form with 10/18 on their patch. Wins have come in this period against Dartford, Taunton and the aforementioned Eastbourne game, each game won by just a single goal margin. The other point they picked up was a stalemate against Bath. We're in a similar mid-table position for away form. Sitting in 12th with 7/18 on the road we still have the Maidstone, Hampton and Weston capitulations blotting our copybook in this period. One would hope our away form standing will pick up with this game and the Eastbourne game on New Year's Day booting the Stones and Hampton games out the other end of the calculations. And with 3G pitches for these next two away games we won't be able to blame a heavy pitch if we mess it up.

Squad wise we were seemingly getting to a better place with Michael Klass back from suspension and Robbo being nursed back. But the negative ying to that positive yang was the news of Udoka Chima’s injury followed by Chopper limping off in the second half against Stones. Hopefully neither is too serious and a week of rest means they’re back in contention. As festive periods go this one is not too hectic so rotation isn't such a factor and a relatively settled starting line-up is entirely possible.
We’ve been very good in an attacking sense since our last road trip with eight goals in two games. Defensively Saturday was a clear improvement on the week previously where we’d shipped eight goals in two games. Its still therefore very much the case that we don’t know whether the Jekyll or Hyde Worthing will run out, but all we can do is pray that the long hoped for period of consistency starts at some point.
All weekend games…
Aveley v Slough Town
Bath City v Welling United
Chelmsford City v Torquay United
Dartford v St Albans City
Eastbourne Borough v Yeovil Town
Farnborough v Braintree Town
Hampton & Richmond Borough v Weston-super-Mare
Hemel Hempstead Town v Worthing
Maidstone United v Chippenham Town
Taunton Town v Tonbridge Angels
Truro City v Havant & Waterlooville
Weymouth v Dover Athletic
The increased amount of green and reduced amount of red in there this week shows we've ditched some of our chasing pack and can afford to look up as much as down. I can't see them all losing but theoretically an improved away performance could land us in 2nd going into the festive double header.
Safe travel to all heading up and come on you Rebels!
