Isn't Jack chairman of the football foundation? Just asking for a friendππππ€£π€£ No, heβs the FA representative on the board there. Thanks for that I knew he was something on there. Handy to have a person in the know as we have found out. Good luck with your eventual developments

This is taking way longer than I thought it would; even the building works are nowhere near complete. I feel that I have been misled by previous seemingly positive updates by the club.
Not nearly good enough WFC

So why could we have not played home games on it until the pitch works started?

So why could we have not played home games on it until the pitch works started? I believe because of the entry/exit points and the finalisation of the crowdfunder works. Woodside technically still a building site and not signed off.

Not nearly good enough WFC I come in peace. Does seems strange,as you were set up and away early doors with it all. Shame as it would have been nice to see what the outcome is. Hopefully you sort your pitch problems out,as I wonder if this drags on will Rebels vs Rocks be played @ Horsham, will be a bit strange that. Anyway hope all is safe and well and what a start youβve made a gain,itβs going to take a BiG bit of change of fortunes to stop the Worthing train..

Af'noon Gobbo π
There has undoubtedly been a loss of momentum. We raised our funds and started earlier than you yet the pitch remains unstarted and as Kenty says, the ground improvements appear to have just fizzled out.
I wonder myself whether knowing full well we weren't going to be playing there until the pitch was done is behind the tools being downed.
With the best will in the world without a deadline no job ever gets finished... I'm currently varnishing doors for example that were stripped back in June but got hung back up because we had guests so never came back down to get finished.
Rocks had the season start as their deadline so all the stops HAD to be pulled out. The Woodside project started in a timely and productive enough fashion but with the nebulous deadline of 'well, once the pitch is done' the work momentum evaporated.
That's fine I guess, I mean it was only last week according to the article that the last of the grant funding was secured for the pitch. So we couldn't be playing there anytime soon as the pitch work hadn't started and it'll take a month or so to do. No harm no foul if the new buildings aren't finished...
However... as I sit here over lunch looking and hearing the foul weather lashing the house I can't help but feel a half finished, unclad block and beam structure is going to deteriorate in these conditions, and we're into winter soon.
The 'final fix' doesn't look like it was started and in a way I hope to god it wasn't because the structures don't appear watertight. They look like they were abandoned in the sunshine of August. But that's not a good look in the gales of almost November. What's the old saying?... you 'fix the roof while the sun shines'.
So in summary Gobbo I can understand WHY the malaise set in...whilst still feeling it was a fools errand to stop.
My fear is it may cost us more in the longer term as more time and money is needed to dry out/repair the exposed structures than would've been the case if they'd just been completed when the weather was good.
As for the pitch? Well that's been the club's constant sh*t itch for the last three or four years... what's another month or two? π
Momentum is the problem, or rather the loss of it.
You're right, we're 'tearing up trees' on the pitch, there should be a real buzz in the town for WFC. Even with a 600 attendance cap we'd be rocking and the feelgood factor would spread around the community.
But the absence of the team from Worthing means Worthing isn't involved and invested like it should be. I know it can't be odds'd but its such a shame this pitch continues to hang over our heads slowly undermining the huge strides we've made over the last few years.
Anyhoots, back to the varnishing π

Unless someone answers first, and assuming the forecast is right, I'll take the dog for a walk that way later for you once the rain clears π
There were tumbleweeds blowing round last time we passed on Monday.
NB - I'll put the update on the Ground improvement thread (mod. rules). Also the thread title implies there's an update... and I rather suspect there isn't π

Top bloke - the observation through the turnstiles of one man and his collie is that no work has started on the pitch.

Thanks for the update Keithsson (hope u didn't get to wet on your detour ) saw somewhere that the pitch at Lancing took 65 days from start to finish . Assuming only the top carpet is to be replaced one would hope that the work required would take half that time . So about a month from start date . Someone must know the elusive date . come on Mr Hunter give us a clue .

I understand its what lies beneath the top surface that is the problem. The base layer needs to go too.
That said 65 days for a zero to complete process would include digging out the soil which would be time consuming and we wouldn't need.

Wingate game reversed at start of Dec so from that it seems a further delay. Half a season without a game at Woodside that would make it.
