Will the corona virus scupper our promotion chances?? Surely only a matter of time before all sport is postponed or completely cancelled for the season.

Looks very likely now that there will be some sort of disruption because of this. No scenario can be ruled out.

Lots of scare stories in the media which really doesn't help the situation. It puts pressure on politicians to 'do something' which weaker governments will cave into. Presently our government is being led by the science and not the hysteria which is spot on.
The latest COBRA meeting has ended and they are stopping short of banning large gatherings at the moment.
What will happen going forwards, who knows but I'd rather pragmatic scientists were leading the decision making process than knee jerking polititicions.

I'm glad that the scientists are leading the decisions as well. Hopefully we can mathematically wrap the title up as soon as possible!! Smaller gatherings might be OK in the long run so unless we attract thousands more through the gates hopefully our season will finish in front of spectators. More worrying is if some of the players get the virus and our squad has to self isolate.

But we do now have Rebel Yell FC to take over should that happen.

Will be no games to commentate on if either or both sides are sitting the matches out in isolation!! And what an anti climax the season will be if our fans aren't there witness a possible promotion. Worrying times in my opinion for the well being of the entire country, will be many months till this virus goes away.

Just a thought; given that the govt has said that games can still go ahead at present, is there not a rationale for cramming games in over the next few weeks to compress and complete the season?

That makes sense Kenty, play Saturday and Tuesday, maybe even Thursdays as well in an attempt to finish the season. Could be a fruitless plan though if sides start losing players/staff to the virus. Arsenal now in isolation after Arteta tested positive this evening which shows how rapidly things can change.

The Scottish Govt has banned all events with 500 or more people in attendance, including football matches. There is talk that the UK Govt will consider the same further down the line (days, weeks perhaps). I wonder how this approach will work in the Isthmian League. Do teams that never get 500 (eg Wingate) get to play their home games? Do teams that may or may not get 500 (eg Enfield) possibly get to play? What about Worthing? Guaranteed to get 500+? Do we not play at all? Or do we let in the first 499 then close the gates, leading to potential public disorder? So many questions. All speculation at the moment I know. Let's hope someone, somewhere has a plan!

The Premier League has now been suspended, we await the ramifications for the lower leagues... in the meantime if it just stays like that it'll mean bigger gates and more money for lower league clubs.
I'm not a worrypuss over these things so see that as a bonus, but you can easily see how the more knee jerk surrender monkey brigade might use that as a stick to beat all football... "well if we suspend one league we should suspend them all".
Literally as I type that BBC Sport alerts come through that my FL teams next two games are off. And so it starts!
Come on Isthmian, have some spine. Our gates equate less with league football and more with cinemas, churches and theatres. Let's wait until THAT level of risk is scientifically advised for cancellation... keep calm and carry on!

All matches in the football league have been cancelled from the weekend until the start of April. This will surely have a knock on effect with non league attendances increasing as people look for their football fix. I am not sure how it will work if gatherings get limited to 500 maybe all ticket, we will definitely need stewards to keep people outside from coming in . FWIW I cant see why our scientific advice is so much different than the countries who have similar about of cases to ours. I hope that our scientists are correct because they are playing with people's lives

It is entirely possible our scientists have simply been modelling contagion spread better, for longer and more accurately than other countries. We are not a leading science nation for nothing.
More likely though we have shared our better modelling data but other countries governments have chosen to ignore the scientific evidence and have caved in to populist hysteria. Being seen to 'do something' is more politically advantageous than actually 'doing the right thing'. It is good government to be strong, not weak.
The trouble comes down the line when those countries have been on lockdown for months and have nowhere to go but more and more of the same.
There'll be a sweet spot for lockdown, too late and the spread moves too quickly, too early and unnecessary economic and social damage rips apart all social cohesion.
I don't envy the decision makers but I do trust scientists more than politicians.

National League North and South going ahead this weekend at the moment.
For any promotions or relegation to take place 3 leagues have to finish their seasons, Isthmian Premier, Southern Premier and the NLS. Going to be very problematic to see how games will be fitted in as the virus hasn't yet reached its peak and squads end up self isolating.
