Haringey v Kingstonian postponed owing to Kingston winning today.
Would make sense to have Worthing v Lewes on December 7th in the Senior Cup and Haringey v Worthing on December 18th in the league, job done!! (all obviously Omicron dependant!?!?)

Call me Mr Cynical pants, but I had to laugh at the fact the Sussex FA gave us and Rooks 'special dispensation' for this fixture to be played a day after the cut off.
I'm sure, like all other competitions, the Sussex FA get a cut of gate receipts?
..."Now gentlemen, shall we fine them or shall we take a wedge of some much inflated SSCC gate receipts?"
Tough one 🤣

Lewes' Twas the week before Christmas, when all thro' the club, not a player was purring, not even a Sub,
The stockings were hung by the chimney with care, perhaps a good performance soon would be there'. Match Centre - LinkPreviewing this game is nigh on impossible. Not only have these games become almost legendary goal fests riddled with inexplicable kamikaze defending, from both sides, but form for both has dipped since our meeting back in October. From being the top two clubs in the league on current form two months ago we're now two clubs stuttering for form just to hang on outside the play-off positions (we're 7th, they're 8th). ILPD Form (last 6 H&A) - Link Then there's Hinsh going on record that this competition will be for the youth, does he mean that? I don't think when he said that he envisaged a pre-Christmas Saturday fixture against Lewes with no game for nine days thereafter... the small matter of Rocks away. But will he still stick with youth? The case for and against that happening both rest on the same thing, how do you lift the team after some flat performances? Yes we got four points from the road trips, yes Ollie is now the leagues top scorer, and yes we are seven points clear in the league. But listening to Pete Vale on commentary the team has sounded as flat as a witches chest in the last three games. Now if Pete and the co-comm' have mentioned one they've mentioned nearly all over the last week "Marvin just hasn't come to life", "Dayshonne just isn't the player he was a month ago", 'X' really isn't on it today, 'Y' needs a rest I think. Then there's... why did Aarran come off at half time last night?, what's up with Cam Tutt?, Where was Coxy?, will Luca come out of French quarantine restrictions in time?, you what, we're bringing Buddy on to chase a game? It boils down to who is actually available for this game in the first place and do you then a) give what's left a welcome break after a crazy week of travel and play the kids or b) try and maintain some sort of consistency of line up to work on the performance problem knowing they can then have over a week of rest before the 27th. There's a good case for both schools of thought. Lewes haven't played since Saturday and will undoubtedly bring a strong first team to keep themselves kicking over. Despite that if it were me i'd give the whole 1st team squad the weekend off and just do some very intense training sessions next week to keep their fitness up. I just fear more injuries if we try and go toe to toe with a fit and fresh Lewes side after all that travelling. It's only the SSCC and the league takes priority, Bognor takes priority... but we'll only know which way the coin has flipped when the team sheet comes out on Saturday. As I say not so much a preview as a question mark, this one is very much up in the air over what team we put out... but, sadly, 1st team or youth team, I just don't see us progressing in this competition The crowd won't be as large as it would've perhaps been a month or two back either. Form and it being the last shopping weekend before Christmas will put off the 'fairweathers' but there's also the massive elephant in the room, COVID. I've been pinged twice at games at Woodside Road now, thankfully nothing developed but watching football remains easily the 'riskiest' aspect of my day to day life as regards infection. Especially for the elderly and more vulnerable catagories, or those who may be spending Christmas with such individuals... do you really want to risk picking something up?... at a Sussex Senior Cup game of all places? As we head into the depth's of winter between January and March, sadly but inevitably COVID will yet again impact our season. On that happy note, season's greetings Come on you Rebels! Edit...

Love your write ups keithsson eloquent, concise, and Funny . indeed covid seems to be our biggest opponent again this season , As for cup games I've said before not a fan . Think Crawley have had the right idea , and they have a far larger squad Ask the kids to play and take a defeat on the chin , rest up the first team and prepare for two very very difficult games .

Would concur with the 2 above views regarding the team for Saturday. Just select the same side more or less that beat Seaford. In some ways the flat performances are very understandable, lengthy away trips, few players missing with injury or sickness and the possible threat of another suspension of football on the horizon in the near future. All will be OK though, the League are bound to have a sensible and fair contingency plan up their sleeve!?!?

Rebels 3-0 Rooks (Ollie x2, Callum)
Reasonably comfortable and convincing really, a strong(ish) side was put out and any lingering cobwebs from our away day marathon seemed quickly erased. Job well done.
Our reward...
Boom 💥
Other ties...
Eastbourne v BHA Horsham v Saltdean Horsham YMCA v Little Common/Three Bridges
Ties to be played on or before 19/1/22*
*Covid situation allowing.

Comfortable win , on goal scoring chances should have been 10 3 . Big shout out for Arron and Joel both magnificent . (Don't normally comment on opposition players but the lad Tanner clearly thinks he's better than he is (and he is good ) attitude seems to be the reason he's playing at this level Re their manager , conversations during the recent Cray game pointed to their relief that he had gone and Lewes had no idea what they now had .Diddnt do himself much favours today .😷😷😷

Date set for 18th January. We were due to play Folkestone that night, that game moves to the 25th... The U18's were at home to Whitehawk on the 25th, that game goes off into the ether... Club Site - Link

MATCH CENTRE - LinkSSCC Results so far and the other QF fixtures - Link And so we face round three in the Rocks v Rebels Trilogy. Usually in a trilogy the third installment is the decider, the finale, the one where good triumphs over evil and we all live happily ever after. Well not this time, for me anyway. For some it might be that beating Bognor Regis, in any competition, is the be all and end all, and that's fair enough. But try as I might, I don't care enough about the Sussex Senior Challenge Cup to want to throw everything at it and jeopardise the league campaign. We've won the El Classicoastal this season already, on away goals, that's retained and in the 'trophy cabinet' for the season ( perhaps for many seasons). This fixture is a sideshow by comparison. Where are the bragging rights in having to play a another game or two in this tournament only to have to lose at some point to BHA's array of worldwide wonderkids? Let Rocks have their 'moment' I say, lord alone knows they've got naff all else to crow about. We've got skin in the game for promotion, they haven't. In an ideal world we put our fantastic U18's out, same too for the Velocity Trophy, and we go on to win both competitions. But with arguably the toughest two games of our season to date coming up next week, why risk injury or sap the energy of a single first team regular. It was noticable that Marvin was spared yesterday and that Aarran, Reece and Jasper were all taken off early. All saved I hope for Hornchurch and Folkestone, not for Bognor. However, at the time of writing, the Academy (from which is drawn a big percentage of our U18's) are still due to play at Woodside Road on Wednesday afternoon... and even kids can't play twice in under 24 hours! The County competitions hampers our campaign for another reason too... Hornchurch were due to play Carshalton on Tuesday, them having a tough league game could've given us a bit of advantage going into the weekend. But Carshalton are playing in the Surrey County Cup and as usual the minor cup competition takes precedent over league football. So the Urchins get a week off to rest and recuperate while we have to fulfil this fixture. The above situation is what makes previewing this game impossible. We all know how we matched up against Rocks just three weeks ago but that means little. Because we don't know how Hinsh will treat it, indeed we don't know how Uncle Jack will treat it either, our league positions and current form become irrelevant. Players we know are out are Alex Parsons and I did see Ty with a 'support boot' on yesterday too. Players who were in the pre-match sprint training exercises before kick off yesterday (sometimes, but only sometimes, a signal they are just shy of match fitness) were Pat Webber and Luke Robinson. Beyond that everyone seemed to be back and firing. Safe travel if you are going over and as ever, whoever wears the red and white, come on you Rebels!

Normally Keithsson I would vehemently disagree with you about the importance of the County Cup, however, this time I feel you have got it bang on. Let's play the "fringe" players with a leavening of U18s and maybe promote some fringe U18s for their subsequent game; after all they are well clear in their league

Harrison, Luca, Pat, Kyle. Buddy, Marv, Will, Ollie Starkey and Dean in midfield. Front 2 of Dayshonne and Luke would be my team for Tuesday.

I've decided to "vote with my feet" and go to Consett v Shildon in the Durham Challenge Cup rather than listen to the rebelyell coverage
