Sandwiched in between 2 tough league games isn't ideal.

And neither is the fact we're still showing an U18 game at home to Lewes on the very same night so as it stands can't lean on the youth team to rest the first team.
I'll keep an eye on that fixture but I fear we've maybe postponed too many U18 games already and are running out of alternative dates.
Plus, we also need to rely on Lewes to agree to an U18's postponement so our first team are fresh for the trip to... oh, hang on... erm, Lewes π¬

Be a shame if the semi final clashes with the U18 game v Lewes as that should be a good game to watch. Common sense would see the U18 game moved to the Thursday.

Unless directly specified as all ticket I'll be paying on the gate.
During the last two years thanks to reduced capacities and COVID protocols I have so many now single use apps and have given my details over to so many third party ticket sellers I'm damned if I'll do that again to 'Eventbrite' just as all restrictions are ending.
If it was BHA like before then maybe there'd be an outside chance of a sell-out but not for Three Bridges.

Which means the U18s now need to beat Whitehawk at home on the 8th to win the Isthmian Youth South division.

Great news. I only looked again at the fixtures yesterday so that's hot, or at least warm, off the press.
Thanks π
Gives us more options for Culver Road and gives the lads the chance to claim their richly deserved trophy in front of a decent crowd instead of a virtually empty one on Tuesday.

Semi-Final - Three Bridges v Worthing FC - *7:15* at Culver Road Lancing 1/3/22 MATCH CENTRE - LinkA Semi-Final is a significant occasion in and of itself. But this fixture has added significance, far wider significance. It comes just two days short of two full calendar years since our last Semi-Final, also at Culver Road, against Brighton. WFC V BHA (3/3/20) Extended Highlights - LinkWhy's that so significant? That week was the last week before COVID first interrupted and then quickly 'cancelled' our season. Wingate & Finchley visited the following Saturday but then that was it, game over. To be back at Culver Road therefore pretty much exactly two years later bookends 'the COVID Chapter' very tidily. For it to happen just as the last of the COVID restrictions have been lifted and we go forwards respecting, accepting but crucially just living with the virus is perfect symmetry. Finally we can put it behind us. There's also some COVID disruption symmetry in the shape of our opponents on Tuesday. The very last game we played in the hugely truncated 2020/21 season was a 2-1 away defeat to Bridges in this very competition. A terrible fixture to end on as that lives in infamy for the stupidity of a small group containing a certain individual who decided to sully the good reputation of our club by going on an allegedly cocaine fuelled one man rampage of numbskullery. Hopefully he stays at home forever so his village will never again be deprived of its idiot. Not that the idiotic behaviour is confined to beyond the touchline with Bridges. Having been regular 'friendly' opponents over the last few years, even at U18 level, we've become exposed regularly to their ugly brand of football. Niggly fouls, downright thuggery, persistent referee baiting and play acting. If they do this in pre-season friendlies, just imagine how it'll be ramped up for a cup semi-final. Our promotion chase can't be allowed to be derailed by injuries and I hope for a very strong referee on Tuesday. S exy football has to win... just like it did when we played them at Woodside Road this summer. 5-0 up in 22 minutes the a 6-1 win showed just how beauty can slay the beast.
WFC V Three Bridges (13/7/21) - Match Report
Three Bridges occupy 12th place in the Isthmian League South East Division 14 points shy of the last play off place having played a game more. On Saturday they enjoyed a 3-1 home win against bottom placed Whitstable Town.
ILSE League Table - Link
They are on a bit of a run of form lately and currently sit 2nd behind Hastings United for current form home and away over the last six games. That period also included a trip to Culver Road where they lost 4-3 to Lancing.
And so we come to squad matters, and the stuck record that is rotation. Do we play a strong team and risk injury or a fringe team and risk defeat. Bridges beat Haywards Heath only last Saturday so are the stronger proposition. The timid and defensively naive performance against Heath on Tuesday from our fringe players means the decision for Hinsh is perhaps not as cut and dried as it might otherwise have been.
Points in favour of another fringe team outing - Could they be that flat again?, its on a 3G pitch this time, its at a neutral venue that'll surely feel like a home game. First team injuries/fatigue must be avoided.
Points in favour of a strong first team selection - Winning the game and making a final, maintaining the confidence and positivity.
There's arguments for and against. The short term massive factor is Lewes on Saturday, the longer term factor is that the next six games are all Tues/Sat, five of them on the road, three of them very long coach journeys, and two of those are midweek. It's a busy period coming up and this is the last chance to rest and recuperate. I don't envy Hinch's dilemma.
The weather looks wet for Tuesday so dress appropriately as there isn't a lot of cover at Culver Road. But nothing will stop the big red exodus to Lancing so just enjoy the occasion.
Come on you Rebels!
NB - Away from SSCC matters Folkestone and Hornchurch play their games in hand over us the same night. They should win against East Thurrock and Carshalton respectively moving them up to 5th and 4th respectively.

Cup games really are a pain in the a::e . Will hinch stick or twist ? He's managed to call most things right so far . All I can see is Lewes Lewes Lewes . Would be a shame to lose any advantage Saturday by turning up tired or injured . On the other hand imo a scratch side is likely to get beat Tuesday . Personally I think the league is more important just glad I don't have to make the call π€π€§π€
