In the Isthmian Premier, Hornchurch are up as champions and Chatham are in the play-offs. The other play-off contenders are any three from Enfield Town, Wingate & Finchley, Horsham, Billericay or (most unlikely) Hastings United. Concord Rangers have been relegated (again), as have Haringey and Kingstonian; Cheshunt or Margate will join them. (As an aside, Corinthian-Casuals were relegated from the Isthmian League last night). In the Southern League Premier South, Chesham United up as champions and Gosport, Salisbury and Totton are in the play-offs. The other play-off contender will come from Merthyr, Bracknell, Walton & Hersham, Hungerford or Dorchester. As an update: Isthmian Premier: Enfield Town now in play-offs, Hastings miss out. Southern League Premier South: Last play-off spot now between Bracknell and Merthyr. Oh, and Harrow Borough have been relegated and seem highly unlikely to have a get-out-of-jail free card this season...

I saw that earlier. Such a shame for them but I guess rules is rules, and the goalposts are the same as they were at the beginning of the season. What I didn't get though was why the next highest team couldn't take their QF place and Solihull Moors gets a bye to the SF's. Barnet, their SF opponents, therefore don't gain the full advantage they deserve from their higher placed finish. Imagine if, say, it was Aveley in our league. Instead of facing Maidstone with the advantage of a weeks rest over them, they arrive just as fresh as we are.

Theyβve changed it about 5 times during the day but the latest version sees Barnet play the winner of Solihull and Halifax while Altrincham get a bye and go to Bromley.

Oh FFS, that's my fault, I angered the gods of fate by suggesting administrative competence over the ground regulations π€¦π»ββοΈ
Now its SNAFU, they're out on the pitch rearranging the goalposts again π
It's easy innit?... promote Halifax to 6th and Aldershot to 7th. Shots are hardly going to turn it down are they... "sorry, no can do, we'll still be hungover from our end of season party" π€ͺ

They changed the regs when they went to a 6 team play off so a team finishing 8th (or worse) wouldn't be able to get promoted. I believe it's still allowed when it's a 4 team play off, i.e. a team placed 6th could take the place of a higher ineligible team

Response from Gateshead Council here www.gateshead.gov.uk/article/27784/Response-to-the-National-League-s-statement-regarding-Gateshead-FCUnderstandable from the Council I have to say that I doubt the Ratepayers in Gateshead would stomach them incurring increased costs due to the Football club. They are very poorly supported and it's only got worse since Newcastle are doing ok ish and most locals support them to the exclusion of the Heed. I think the timing of the announcement is pants from the NL; it has zero regard for the fans, but the decision itself is out of their control. Isn't it just so wonderful that over the past 3 days the FA, Prem, EFL and NL have all proved themselves equally able to Feck things up, things that could be dealt with well, so consistently. I'm lucky to be watching the Northern League regularly. Oh, wait, the Northern League has surpassed all of the above this season (I won't bore you with the details), I forgot that bit

It probably is the case in 4-team play-offs, as that's what happens in Southern Combination League Div 1 when (as happened again this year) Dorking Wanderers "B" side finish in the top 5 (as the "B" side is not allowed to compete above level 6).

A bit naive of them to think that the EFL should have accepted a 10-year deal that contains a break clause...

Horsham failed to get the 1 point needed to ensure a play-off spot last night, when they lost 1-0 at Cheshunt, a result that relegates Margate (barring a 14-goal swing on Saturday).

Taken from the York forum where Adam had a Q&A with their fans tonight
"AH also had discussions with Sutton before joining City.
Wealdstone also wanted him when Maynard left to go to Notts County, but as they are part time, Worthing refused permission"

I kind of get that as I think Sutton are ultimately no bigger than we could be. I feel the same about Crawley and Forest Green despite their far loftier league positions. I could (however) see a functional York City in League One.

At the moment we would just be happy with the upper echelons of NL, hopefully next season with Ollie Pearce on board we'll manage that...
