1-3
Frustrating .... lots of possesion half chances created undone by poor defending for third goal.
Sound familiar?
We need a centre half!

FT 2-3 Its funny, I can't decide if we deserved a point or not. Up to their third I think we created enough but that goal was the killer. This just goes to demonstrate how bad Eastbourne were. Facing a team at the top end of the league and in great form we didn't look nearly as comfortable. Its not a huge disgrace to lose to a good team so its hardly a back to square one moment, just disappointing we let a play-off rival overtake us. MOTM for me was Odei. It seemed he took the 'Ricky roll' (dropping back to take possession from the keeper etc.) and he did it very well. New keeper looked tidy enough, especially with the ball at his feet, but I still feel its harsh on Roco that he played. We drop to 4th... NLS Table - Link

It goes without saying that Chopper for Ricky was always going to mean a different dynamic and it took 20mins and a few errors to settle. Understandable but no excuse.
I thought we made a game of it though in the end and credit to the boys for that. I think we have to accept this against decent opposition while we are playing with a few out of position and some coming back from injury. I think Klass would have been useful today, but that's football I guess.
On to next week!

Any views on the 'save' at 2-1 down? I thought the keeper tipped it round the post from my view, but the players and bench seem very sure it was a defender's hand!

Someone should have told Worthing Christmas was over . Gave them a start with two gifts wrapped goals (Keeperat fault with the second ) (sorry ) Cuntinue to play tipsy tapy nonsense at the back and expect to get away with it . Thought we had enough fire power upfront to destroy their shaky looking defence second half . Not sure why Hinch changed things. Thought their 7 was excellent the rest not so much . 😷😷😷

But yes, we missed his physicality.

Robbo hasn't done a full 90 in a long while so was always going to drop out at some point. Luque. Well Luque was just being Luque for me. Some sublime little touches and 'see ya laters' on the ball but ultimately no end product in the box and a helluva lot of standing still while waving his arms about... make a 'kin run for the ball if it ain't coming 🙄 So him for Wheeler (who made more good final balls in two minutes than Luque had all game) and Cash for Robbo was about as attacking as Hinsh had available. Starkey O. for Luer slightly later on, well that too proved an upgrade as Ollie I thought did well. I may have had issues with Hinsh and his ten minute petulant horizontal sulk in the dug-out after their second, but in fairness the changes were correct in the circumstances. Should we have saved Robbo as an impact sub rather than started him though? That's a whole other question. I assume the thinking was 'do the business early and blow 'em away'... instead they blew us away and we were chasing the game.

Didn't see it myself, it was the wrong side of the pitch but I'd imagine the usual 'Pitchside' camera angle will be perfect. Hinsh certainly has views... Hinsh post match - YouTubeA bit of a 'please can I have more money' statement it seems. A little naughty that perhaps given he spent the good budget he was given in the summer on good contracts for players... some of which haven't exactly set the NLS alight. But its January, I guess that's just what managers do this time of year 🤷🏻

What the hell has Roco done wrong recently to bring in an inferior goalkeeper who doesn’t know our system is to me crazy. Still waiting for Luque and Leur to produce any threat to the opponents goal, Nicky and Ollie should be a no brainer as regulars when fit. Much better second half, playing some excellent football in more advanced positions,,,,, BUT for Christ sake Adam stop this needless playing penalty area football it’s killing our results.

Certainly looks like handball on the highlights but the ref is probably unsighted by their player and I’ve given up on linesmen making proactive decisions. Highlights - YouTube

Yeah, certainly looks like a hand. The ref has an excuse on his view, the lino on that side does not 🤨
And I am very surprised they didn't edit out those 'shots' (in the loosest possible sense of the word) from Luque and Luer.
I mean we all laughed at the time but when you consider they're two of our highest paid and longest contracted players, it really ain't funny 😒

Entertaining game, disappointing result, but no team is going to win every game. However, totally confused by some of the comments with regards to Rocco being given a rest, particularly when he has taken so much criticism on here. Rocco has played every single game this season regardless of its priority so is probably deserving of a break both physically and mentally. Plus, I still can't quite get my head around the consistent complaints about the the style of playing from the back that has been the same ever since Adam was appointed. The same style that has brought us so much success over the recent seasons. I guess I am either easily pleased, or some people are never pleased regardless of the incredible progress the club has made both on and off the pitch.

No, I’m pretty patient but they have both been very disappointing. Flashes of class from Luque and Luer’s good in the air but a very bad return on the investment so far.

You make a lot of fair comment and our football is so easy on the eye BUT we are being found out as we progress up to playing better teams who are organised enough to know how to nullify us. Keep playing the way we are is fine but only when we are further up the pitch not in or around our own eighteen yard box. The same style worked well in the isthmian but a few tweaks are needed as to now make it a success at Nat South level. A game of this importance was NOT the time to give Rocco a rest.

Highlights - YouTubeI talked to the referee after the match and he said the ball did hit the defender's hand but, in his opinion, the arm was not in an unnatural position but was by his side; like it or not, the current interpretation of handball relies on the ref's opinion.
