Worthing Scottish, Kenty in Weardale, and 2 more like this

A few thoughts in no particular order
- The last 3 results have been broadly similar to Hinsh's last 3 results when you look at the strength of the opposition faces. P3 W1 L2. This suggests that we were already on a downward trajectory
- Starting with a 2, 3 or even 4 goal handicap is not a new thing this season when you look at the GA column which is dreadful and has been for 2 seasons. It doesn't matter when we outscore the opposition. The hot streak was down to Ollie Pearce being in the form of his life (not sustainable) and two better goalkeepers in the team that have saved more/made fewer mistakes than the other two
- Our GKs can be divided into 2 camps and they are almost clones. Those from Brighton who are great shot stoppers, good with their feet but prone to errors but lack presence and those from Southampton who are also good shot stoppers and are decent with their feet and are absolute units who come for crosses etc. Their mistakes have largely been poor judgement (Braintree) or concentration (Slough). Toby's starting position when receiving the ball at his feet worries me. Two great saves at the end though.
- We have missed a spectacular number of chances over the past 2 games. I think we've hit the woodwork 6 or 7 times, missed a penalty and had two goals ruled out for offside which looked very close. Fine margins
- I believe starting the game with a back 3 last night was a mistake. We've played a back 4 all season and to switch without a training session to implement this was naive. Rueben didn't offer much width on the left as a wing back as he's more of a left back (same as Tutty)
- Last night we seemed happy to pass the ball around at the back but as soon as the ball got a bit further up, we resorted to smashing it up the field aimlessly rather than playing through the lines. I hope this was a lack of confidence rather than anything tactical
- We really missed Michael Klass who can receive the ball from the back, turn and play the ball through the midfield and it was strange to play Kane in the middle given that he hasn't played there for most of the season
- Josh or Ollie would have come for the ball and dealt with it for the first goal
- Take a look at how close to his goal line, Toby received the ball for the second. Maybe 5 yards out. A suicide ball from whoever played it
- I'm actually pleased to see the better players visibly frustrated by the poor decision making from our defenders. Ollie has more than pulled his weight all season. Cashman has been the best player on the pitch for the last month or so. We need a tougher, winning mentality
- Brad has goals in him and looked really good coming on. He has to be first choice after Ollie as a striking option given the impotence of some of the other choices.
- A win on Saturday is essential
- I am prepared to lock Kenty in a basement until May.
