Worthing welcome league leaders Billericay Town to Woodside Road on Saturday (3rd) at 3pm.
Ricay have automatic promotion very much in their own hands; they currently sit top of the table a point ahead of Margate with seven games in hand and two points ahead of Dulwich Hamlet with five games in hand.
Rebels are in twenty-first place seven points above bottom of the table Burgess Hill having played a game more, five points ahead of Harlow Town with a games in hand and a point ahead of Tooting & Mitcham United with two games in hand.
We visited Billericay Town in the reverse league fixture a little over a month ago as we lost (0-4) on January (30th) - rebelrebels.proboards.com/post/27892/thread.
Since that game February has seen Worthing beat both Leiston (away 3-2) and Folkestone Invicta (3-2) before drawing our relegation six-pointer with Harlow Town (2-2) and losing at Harrow Borough (0-1); our league game at Kingstonian on Monday (26th) was postponed.
In the same time period Billericay Town have been very busy starting ten matches though competing only nine of them; February kicked off with them drawing at Harrogate Town (2-2) before beaten the same opponents in their FA Trophy third round replay (3-2), a win over Romford (6-1) followed in the Essex Senior Cup; three league games saw them draw at Met Police (2-2), beat Lowestoft Town (5-0) and lose a league game for the first time since the opening day of the season at Leiston (1-3). Ricay then beat Corinthian-Casuals (3-2) in their Isthmian League Cup Semi-final and lost a second league game on the spin at Folkestone Invicta (1-2). On Saturday (24th) they exited the FA Trophy at Quarter-Final stage at home to Wealdstone (2-5). In midweek (Tuesday 27th) they were 0-0 at Wingate & Finchley during the first half when the match was abandoned due to a frozen pitch.
Worthing have gained twenty-three points (five wins, eight draws, five defeats) from eighteen home league matches while Billericay Town have collected thirty-two points (ten wins, two draws, two defeats) from fourteen away league games.
We enter the last two months of the league season with twelve league games remaining; we play seven of them during March, this is looking like another very challenging month as we face five away league matches with just two at home; four of our seven opponents are currently in the thick of the promotion race, another still has an outside play-off chance and we also have another potentially huge relegation six-pointer with Tooting & Mitcham United towards the end of the month.
Our March fixtures list currently reads as:
Hopefully the worst of the weather will have passed in time to allow both the pitch and surrounding areas to be completely cleared and thus allow the game to safely take place. If the game is called off it is likely that the rearranged match may be on a Thursday evening as Billericay Town are already into three game a week territory for any rearrangements; of course a midweek evening match is also likely see us attract a lower attendance when compared to the potential that we might get through the gate on Saturday.
A big home match before we play three in a row away from home.
Good Luck Rebels.
