I'm really looking forward to this one tomorrow night.
lets be honest it'd be lovely to get to a final but I doubt many of us would rate the competition above the promotion race. All the time though we could still achieve winning both competitions we have to hope and certainly have to try.
There's very little I can do by way of a preview piece due to the Brighton team existing in a world completely alien to ours. Given they are about development primarily their results are a bit like looking for rocking horse droppings. Even if they were freely available they wouldn't tell us anything as their games are primarily against similar aged teams.
The SSC is the only time they really give us a like for like comparison to our level and they have progressed to the semi final thus...
BHA U23 3-2 Hastings Utd
Burgess Hill 2-4 BHA U23
Bognor Regis 2-7 BHA U23
It'll be a bit of a one off, for once we won't be coming up against bigger stronger players than us, we could perhaps be the bullies not the bullied as so often happens with our largely young squad. Flip side is these boys should be very handy technically, something we also don't always face.
A big factor will be the loss of Carl Rushworth (if that happens) he has been rock solid all season. I guess the fallback options will be Rui Buckland or Aaron Relf, no disrespect to them but the Barcelona scouts came to see Carl for a reason and we'll miss him (still keeping my fingers crossed though).
Come on you Rebels!

BHAfc U23 are playing really well this season, I have watched a few matches at their training centre in Lancing this month, a good 2 quids worth. They are currently 3rd in Premier League 1, below Chelsea and Leicester, having beaten Man City, Spurs and Derby in their last 3 matches. Link, uk.soccerway.com/teams/england/brighton-u23/37169/ Incidently on the BHA fc web site it previews tommorow evenings match. Showing training ground pictures, amongst them is Carl, maybe a coincidence and just routine keeper training. Good luck Rebels.

Carl played at Horsham in the senior cup so will be cup tied so wont be able to play for them. I have it on good word he wont be playing for us either

Carl played at Horsham in the senior cup so will be cup tied so wont be able to play for them. I have it on good word he wont be playing for us either I just hope if that is the case the reason is 'competition rules' as suggested by Ian on the Potters Bar thread. If it does turn out to be a case of the Billy big bollox Premier League club waving his registration papers whilst thumbing their noses at us then any victory by them would be hollow. It'd be like punching a lower ranked opponent below the belt with a horseshoe in their glove and any respect I had for them would be erased. Another way of looking at it would be that they're scared of us and don't back their team to beat us with Carl playing. Hopefully we'll find out the real reason.

Having gone through the rules for the senior cup on the scfa website I could find nothing about parent clubs players not being allowed to play against their own clubs. As if Brighton playing a team in which 8 featured in the carabou cup (vs villa) wouldn't be hard enough.

Was a good keeper 6 years ago. Won us the last senior cup semi. Would be surprised if he has played above county league since leaving us. Hopefully (if it is him that is playing) he can rediscover his Culver road form

Brighton U21s played in the leading.com trophy this season. They beat Afc Wimbledon and Southend before drawing and losing on penalties to Leyton orient. They progressed through their group getting knocked out in round 2 by Newport County on penalties. This shows the quality of the opposition we could face this evening

With that article the plot just thickens then. Great to see that Jessie will get a competitive game as his ban doesn't include the SSC. Disappointing that Dayshonne can't play as he is cup tied having played for Lewes. But if the article is going to detail who is and isn't eligible then there's a great big blonde elephant in the room that only Barcelona seem to have spotted. What about Carl?, if he too were ineligible under the rules surely that'd be mentioned? Arguably given his England games and the recent newspaper talk of interest from Catalonia, he's the biggest news player in BOTH squads, yet not a sausage about his eligibility? I get why WFC officials would keep quiet and not make a fuss about it. They don't want to appear ungrateful to the big club next door that we'll want to loan players from in the future. Hinch will just doff his cap and take the patronising pat on the head from our Premier League overlords whilst smiling through gritted teeth. I get too why BHA wouldn't draw attention to it. This is an utterly shameful embarrassment for them to have to do this. It insults not only their honour as a football club but also their entire U23 squad by making it crystal clear they're not considered good enough to beat a Worthing side containing Carl Rushworth. But we can damn sure mention it. It is underhand, unsportsmanlike, and unnecessary. As detailed in the post above they've beaten teams four divisions higher than us this season already, WTF are they scared of? NB - I remain more than willing to withdraw any and all insinuations of BHA's petty, small minded and patronising behaviour towards us by handicapping an already handicapped (by league level and financial imbalance) opposition 'just because they can' if someone, anyone, can give a rational explanation why Carl Rushworth isn't in our goal tonight. But with every passing hour this clearly obvious issue is being ignored by the clubs, and now the media, BHA are looking as guilty as the puppy sitting next to a fresh steaming pile of poo.

Was a good keeper 6 years ago. Won us the last senior cup semi. Would be surprised if he has played above county league since leaving us. Hopefully (if it is him that is playing) he can rediscover his Culver road form But he shouldn't have to, unless injured no-one but Carl should be there. Whoever takes the gloves, especially if parachuted in from outside the club, simply won't be up to speed with how we play. The keeper is the key role in our system, playing out from the back and being the default 'square 1' when the defence is being pressed isn't something someone can just rock up and blag their way through. Carl is up to speed, and at this stage of the season is irreplaceable. Let's be honest we pretty much only stand a snowball's chance in hell anyway but take Carl away and BHA virtually have a bye to the final. They know it which is why they've (allegedly) done this.

It is what it is. But I must say Brighton have gone down in my estimation big time like I've said before. If they stopped us Playing Rushworth in all previous round's you could understand. I would make it a hollow victory for them. And play our Under 18s

I'd remove crawley and bha from the senior cup. There is no need for an u23 side to be playing 7th division sides especially now the u23 sides play football league sides in the leading.com. For Crawley playing at the amex is not a big day out given how long they have been in the football league now and the grounds that they have been to. The senior cup is a big competition for us non league teams as is imo devalued by having football league and u23s in it. I'd have much rather be playing bognor today with our proper goalkeeper in a derby than Brighton's youth team. It is like worthing putting our youth team into the county league cup.
