Uncle Jack also shipped out alot of players recently so I don't quite get his logic, far too little too late if you ask me!

Please WFC, promise me you'll never cheapen the matchday experience by introducing one of these... Isthmian Site - LinkDon’t know if they still have it but in the mid 2000’s, Eastbourne Borough had a massive owl, about 7 feet tall. I totally shat myself when I went round a corner and came face to face with the damned thing coming round the opposite direction. Regarding another post about Ken Bailey, I remember him, the supposed leader of the England supporters club, circling the perimeter at Dean Court each week. Came across as a nice old man although I did also read about an allegation about his private life but I’m not sure that anything was ever proven.

They could well kick on after this.
Football management has moved on massively since Uncle Jack learnt his trade, some of his archaic man management techniques just seem laughable now. I remember with shock how he publicly singled out and tore a strip off a young loanee after our 3-0 win in 2019. He also hired and fired quicker than a randy rabbit humps. How can you build anything like that?
Compare and contrast with how Hinsh goes about his business.

But will they? ? Jack will always be in the background. Look at Man Utd. Whoever is manager there, Ferguson is always sat behind them watching on.

When one man has been the dominant force at a club for so long he can cast a very long shadow, and despite good intentions, make things very difficult for those who follow. Has JP been good for Bog? Mostly yes it has to be said. They are a well run club off the field and have had success on the pitch. Was he good for non league football in general? Sorry, but my opinion has to be clouded by the incompetence of the last 3 seasons. He stayed too long (maybe in both areas) and there was strong evidence of inertia and avoidance of decisions. It will be of interest to see if he steps back from his wider responsibilities and many National League fans will be hoping that he does

Agreed. Bognor is well run in general, get decent crowds and their ground is a league or two above their footballing mediocrity. A new manager will impact the first team (probably positively) but their weakness is on developing effective players. They have lots of youth teams, but still flood their first team with loanees and big travellers. Howell might bring some players in through connections, but unless their development runs through the club, it might be more of the same in the longer term.
I for one wish them luck. Its the friedly rivalries that I love about non-league and that is not served by Bognor stagnating any more. Only one potential game in the SSC Cup next year... thank God we won at the Nyecamp before getting promoted or that 'since 1999' may have outlived me!

50 plus years at a football club is a tremendous achievement and demonstrates real commitment and loyalty. Add in all the other external roles and it is plain to see that Jack is a real 'football' man and lover of the game.
Obviously the game has moved on since the 1970s and some of his methods are now probably outdated but overall he leaves with Bognor in a decent position. Best ground in the division in my opinion and a decent fanbase is a good base to move on from.
I've read they are planning to install a 4G pitch as well which will provide extra income in the long term especially if they get an academy up and running to attract local youngsters.
