Let’s be honest it’s a rubbish draw for us and them! The only good thing about the draw will be if we go and win it, if not it will go down in history as crappy first round draw. Rubbish in the sense it could be worth 41k when you win the game. I said I wasn’t bothered about a cup run. And still I rather see us going up. However with progressing to the next round we will get a tidy sum of money that can be utilised for investment. So is the draw rubbish? Yes because we all want a massive club to play against. No because we stand a more realistic chance to go through to the next round. And then maybe play a big club away with a shared gate? Do I think the draw is rubbish no not really!

Winnable game makes it a good draw, but that's all it is... a draw. What matters is the performance and if we can perform and if we can win, then we get the money and a potential big day out next round.
I'd sacrifice promotion this year for the 3rd round!

Not the best draw and not the worst. Both sides will be thinking it's a winnable game and the chance of a more attractive tie in round 2.
St Albans at home on November 4th will now need to be rescheduled and I assume, in the event of a draw at Alfreton, that Havant at home on the 7th would need to be moved
And will we have the option of moving the trip to Chelmsford on Monday 30th October aswell to give us a free week to prepare? Would be good if we could as a midweek trip to Essex 2 days after the long journey to Bath is far from ideal.

Could have been far worse, Carlisle away for starters?, they have to cover our travelling from the gate, so it’s basically almost a free hit financially with 41 grand at the end of the rainbow. Hopefully with coach covered by Alfreton the club will be in a position after what they got on Saturday prize money wise to go the night before, so the boys are all fresh and up for it.

See for me personally would have preferred Carlisle last year there were home in R1 in front of 4,000 where as last time Alfreton made R1 there was in 2019 they got 827! As I have said in my post its a rubbish draw on paper if we loose as means we got all the way to R1 for a very low key day out. If we win then yes its a cracking draw gives us more prize money and a chance in R2 for a tasty big away day. I stand by what I said if we loose will go down in history as a rubbish R1 draw.

I know it isn't the draw we wanted, but this is a huge opportunity to bring a large some of money into the club and also to progress to the second round for only the second time in our History!!
Win this and into the second round we go, would we want a favourable tie there and the opportunity of the 3rd round?? Absolutely we would! The exposure for the club and the opportunity that brings is massive!
It's not what we wanted yes, but let's flip it around and see what it brings us?

Alfreton are confirming that is is 3pm on 4th....I'm guessing we're assuming it won't get picked for a live TV match...

I'm sure the live game decision committee will agonise at great length over our fixture 🤣
Let's be honest if there even is an FA Cup MOTD for R1, our game is about as low down the order of wider interest as its possible to be.
We must be odds on favorites to be the last game featured in the highlights before the credits.
Round three though when Haaland has to 'slum it' you can bet Lineker & co. will be falling over themselves to climb the scaffold to the makeshift BBC studio plonked on top of the phone mast 😎

I'm sure that the Alfreton supporters are nearly as happy with the draw as we are, the only plus for them being as it's a home tie.
The next 2 1/2 weeks are going to pass very slowly

Nice comment regarding Haaland, although I very much doubt he will even feature in round three, opposition dependant. The FA Cup isn’t what it is was for a lot of younger people. Ask most youngsters in the ground if they remember Chichester City, a club only founded 19 years previously reaching the second round four years ago and playing Tranmere on TV. They won’t have a clue, most of their side were made up of county league players. That’s a fairytale story, Alfreton away might not be a fairytale but it’s certainly one step closer to Gary Lineker climbing up the scaffolding. Keep dreaming everyone.

Chichester City were founded in 1873 but they did absorb Portfield in 2000, which is probably what you are referring to. It was a fairytale story though, none the less!
