Some more sad news to report and that is the shock passing of Karly Akehurst. Karly, was a fine player, who graced the hallowed turf of Woodside Road around 15 years ago and went on to play for some other clubs too, including this tribute on the Whitehawk Football Club page TODAY...
"Whitehawk Football Club is deeply saddened to learn the passing of former player, Karly Akehurst".
A key player for the Hawks in the early 2010s, Akehurst would touch the hearts of many in a prolific career that saw him play for many in the Sussex non-league scene.
Returning briefly for pre-season at the start of last season, the thoughts of everyone connected to Whitehawk are with Karly’s family and loved ones at this incredibly sad time.
A huge part of Shaun Saunders’ success when the pair were at Haywards Heath Town, Saunders offered his condolences, “I was truly devastated to hear the news. Like many others I know the family very well, and have been blessed to have had a special relationship with Karly for many years. Truly a special man and we will miss him very much. I know what the family are going through now and we hold them all in our thoughts and prayers.”
Rest in peace, Karly.
