Just saw Meow Meows are playing this year.
Anyone, Roger??? know if any other bands have been announced yet?
Will have to find a tent this time I think and camp it up (not like that!)

Anyone, Roger??? know if any other bands have been announced yet? I don't think that it's been confirmed yet but speaking with some friends within the local music community, I've heard that included will be - Tracey Curtis - Pog - Wob (band I think) - Robb Johnson & The Irregulars (new 6 piece line up, new drummer plus the completely mad Graham Larkby on rhythm guitar and harmonica) - Asbo Derek I also heard an as yet unconfirmed rumour that Anal Beard might try a warmup for their comeback gig at what used to be called Tallington Ashes but has some other name now, associated with Joseph Porter. Last I heard Paul had convinced both Wob & Deacon to be a part of it. They only agreed on the basis that it would never appear on their CV ;D I've got my bus pass ready just in case I'm not too sure about out of area musos, though but I'll keep my ear to the ground.

Sounds like a good set! Hope Anal Beard do make a comeback, as they're sorely missed (by me, if no one else!).
Cheers!

Robb Johnson & The Irregulars (new 6 piece line up, new drummer plus the completely mad Graham Larkby on rhythm guitar and harmonica) And every month on the third Thursday near you Nick, Graham & The Escape Committee play Tunnel Vision at the Plough in Walthamstow. If you do make it, remember me to Graham, although I'll likely see him tomorrow @ The Wellie where he'll probably add some harmonica to Robb's solo set . www.myspace.com/tunnelvisionthursday

If you do make it, remember me to Graham, Spoke to Graham yesterday and the next gig is the coming Thursday - 8.30ish start, 3 bands, free admission and decent beer, he says. And even you can't miss the Plough - it's right opposite the main entrance to Wood Strret station.

From Atilla's blog, here is the line up
Friday evening
STRAWBERRY BLONDES - Incendiary young hard-gigging South Wales punks, currently making huge waves with their debut album 'Rise Up'. Great lyrics, great tunes, Rancid to their Clashy core....... TV SMITH - former Adverts/Explorers legend, now a wonderful solo singer/songwriter SWILL & THE SWAGGERBAND - Men They Couldn't Hang frontman with his showcase band, which contains TMTCH members past and present AL BAKER & ALAN PARRY - two fine political songwriters from the North West
Saturday:
BLYTH POWER - very rare gig from visionary balladeering trainspotter Joseph and his cohorts PPZ30 (Belgium) Brussels-based funk-punk-jazz combo, hugely original - think Chilli Peppers meets Funkadelic! LUKE WRIGHT - fast-rising star of the performance poetry scene, formerly of Aisle 16 who stormed Glastonwick 2 years ago CONTINGENT (Belgium and Southwick!) Fiery Stoogeseque punks from Brussels, Attila played bass with them in 1979, reformed after 28 years! EASTFIELD - named after a railway depot in Glasgow. Still don't like Port Talbot Transport Police. STEVE DREWETT - singer of the seminal Newtown Neurotics with a rare solo set CRISPIN THOMAS - one of the pioneers of football poetry. Who ate all the pioneers? WOB - bouncing melodic happy ball of energy (except when he does the one about ethnic cleansing) BABAR LUCK - Frankenstanee-Anglo-Pakistani-Muslim rapper/folkiepunk, former frontman of King Prawn POG - sometimes acerbic jazz-folk-pop with a bit of a Beard EVAN GREER (USA) part of the growing US riotfolk scene, a fine political songwriter KEVIN 2 SHEDS - apparently he has!
Sunday afternoon:
JOHN OTWAY (with interruptions from Attila) The madman returns!!!!!!! FISH BROTHERS -Legends. Do the one about the bear! JASON PEGG - Clearlake frontman/composer (and sometime Fish Brother) RORY ELLIS (Australia) the return of the gravel-voiced Aussie ex boxer with the heart of gold TRACEY CURTIS - fine singer/songwriter from Wales and she's just signed a big record deal.... LIVINGSTON FREEMAN - inventive local punk-prog-mod (well, that's my description!)
It looks an even better line up than ever to me. Great to see Rory Ellis back and really looking forward to Luke Wright (so long as Sussex don't have a game that day ;D )

I've not heard all of them either and many of these bands do play in pubs but they are unlikely to be similar to Dirty Shoes (who are indeed a pretty good band). Generally file under alternative (whatever that means) and I can't really add too much to what Atilla has said. Although it's out in the sticks a bit, there is a free bus service to and from Shoreham for ticket holders. You can hear a few samples on their myspace site www.myspace.com/glastonwickGlastonwick is essentially a beer festival with music and I will be working behind the bar at some times over the weekend so give it a try - tickets usually sell out for Friday and Saturday well in advance. Nick - let me know if you need anything booked - camping sold out early last year.

I might need camping tickets for the weekend as a whole I think. VERY, VERY, VERY excited about Babar Luck. He is pure gold and is in a new band. profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendID=232655317King Prawn are, of course worth a listen to if you can find anything. Ska gods! And of course the return of the Fish Brothers. How I've missed them! Probably the best line up for a Glasto I've seen!

As this is the closest I could find to a music thread here I thought I'd pop this singer in who is very.....typical of the artist you might find at Glastonwick perhaps. Mainly popped it in as I thought Roger would enjoy it perhaps, but anyway, yeah, here it is. He's called Jonny One Lung and he was in The Filaments and is in Suicide Bid as well. Here's his solo stuff which is very enjoyable. profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=55705425

Well, the Glastonwick website is up and running now for FY08 www.cask-ale.co.uk/beerfestival.htmland there are a couple of changes to the line up from that I originally posted - Kevin 2 Sheds and Evan Greer out (a pity cos I fancied hearing both of those ) and Meow Meow and Robb Johnson in (no problem there, I like both of them too ;D ) As a public service to our far flung friends, I can order tickets for you - see me in one of my usual haunts (T-Hut or Main Bar at any home game except Dover or behind the goal or in the bar at any away match). You know it makes sense

I do indeed!
I'll ok it with the powers that be, but i think we'll be having three (1 kid if they do them!) camping tickets please.
Glad to see Meow Meows and Robb in and can feel mildly smug and warm having forecast aforementioned band!
I think I remember enjoying Kevin 2 Sheds as well, when he supported Pog, if I'm right, so a shame there.

If I can make it this year, I may pass on the camping idea. I'll stagger through the airport and across the fields to my bed rather than wallow in mud with the masses. *winches up ones nose and looks down it*
