Apparently, Mark Pulling is likely to be on the bench on Saturday. Is that because he gets a warm reception from appreciative fans every time he steps on the field? As a creative player that gets dangerous balls into strikers, and has the tenacity of Rudi Hall or Leo Day in midfield, for me he'd be one of the first names on the team sheet EVERY WEEK!!!!

On the flip side, however, I was always told that you don't change a winning team.
With Pulling and Hughes on the bench that gives me a sense that we can change our shape if its needed. I hope Dominic Douglas is still available as he's been instrumental in organising the back four over the last month or so.

Which back four ?....choice one,two or three ?.........Will Andy A. make an appearance tomorrow ?..........With Jamie B. doing the biz ,Hughes must be getting fed up on the bench. Is he on loan for a month if so he must be going back soon .

I'd agree that the unchanged side, bar the left backs, is how it should stay. Pullers has lately looked very good coming off the bench, giving us something different in the second half.
I don't rate Hughes myself. Waste of space like most things from Yeovil e.g. Berchet (TWAT)

Im not quite so damning re Hughes. I think he has work to do and could do with getting 90 mins under his belt, but seems to have 'something' about him.

With Hughes you get a young keen player who ..tries too hard..! We have played some very nice football recently by keeping it simple and he has got into some great positions only to shank it or blast it into the side netting where a simple pass would be so much better.

I think hughes has looked good coming on off of the bench, but I do agree that we should not change a winning formula. Just bring him on if there's nothing happening like the other tuesday when we waited far too long before bringing a sub on.

Pullers has lately looked very good coming off the bench, giving us something different in the second half. If he actually came on at half-time, I could see the argument - unfortunately, it seems to be the last ten minutes. I'm reserving judgement on Hughes. Even as a youngster, the fact that he's signed to a league 1 side could've placed too high an expectation on what he could offer us. I saw him in the reserve's semi-final vs Crowborough last week and he looked lively and caused more than a few problems, grabbing the first goal I think. A month's loan isn't long enough to get to know a new team, new management and become settled. If it had been a 3 month loan, I think the second and third months could show more. But I'd still like to see Pullers start a game.

I think that Hughes has been alright recently, despite not getting many first team apperances. I remember he did quite well against Walton and Hersham (I think it was), coming on later into the second half and making a couple of nifty runs down the wing. Colourful football boots in that match as well As for Mark Pulling, although I agree that a winning team should not be changed, he his too much of a good player to be left on the bench week - in, week - out. Surely there can be some compromise there? But don't call him Shirley

I think i might have been a bit hasty with Hughes, he was very good today, although the only thing i could say bad bout him was that he hesitated too much before crossing.
