Jamie Brotherton? Or would it be slightly over-stating his contribution to crown him as such?
Considering the number of arrivals and departures at Woodside Road this season, I found it was difficult to think in terms of who might be the "best", but, recently, Jamie has been strong, tenacious, and consistent.
Any other suggestions as to who might deserve the honour?

Rikki must be there or there abouts again this year along with Ben andrews (especially after the goal againt dover).
If Jamie scores a hat full and gets us through the play-offs then he will have my vote. I love the way he celebrates with the away fans when he scores and appreciates the fact that we are there without being told to, thats character.
Unfortunately Jamie is pipped by Karl Akehurst for pure passion for his team and he rarely gives less than 100%
One thing is for sure this year it will be close

It has to be one of those four really doesn't it? I'd be inclined to go for Ben for his consistency and the way he gets the team together as a typical, old fashioned captain should.
Jamie has certainly been player of the last three or four months but unfortunately we've not really had/used him all season so that might be a hnderance. Either way, I think if we get in and win the play offs, they'll all deserve it!

I think if we get in and win the play offs, they'll all deserve it! Good point, CC. Can't believe I forgot Rikki. He has kept us in a fair few games. Karly is just mad, he'll go for anything - definitely not a timid member of the team! Ben is a key player, if a little feisty at times. I agree with what's been said about Jamie in that he would possibly have had more chance to be player of the year had he not been on the bench, etc, so often. However, if he hadn't had that spell at Whyteleafe, he may never have grown into the player who's helped to transform our game recently.

VERY VERY tough choice if you have to narrow it down to one. For me, it's a choice of four - Akehurst, Andrews, Brotherton and Banks. Rikki has been (fairly) consistent and has saved the day many times this season. Jamie as far as the 2nd half of the season goes, is on fire. Had he been performing like that all season, I think he would have got my vote. For consistent all round performances, it comes down to a choice of Ben A and Karl. Ben, due to his goal scoring exploits tends to get noticed more whereas Karl A. gets quietly on with the job of bossing the midfield. Since the midfield has become a settled formation in recent weeks, he's looked top quality and isn't afraid to go into opponents where it will hurt.
At this time, it's tough to separate the two. Maybe I should flip a coin? There's still 3 games of the regular season plus (hopefully) play-offs left, so there's still time for one of them to make a case by doing something monumental on the field to sway "my" vote.

1. Ben Andrews 2. Stuart Axten 3. Karly Akehurst
Honourable mention to J-Bro's commitment and goals in the last couple of months, but over the season it would be those three.

For me, the biggest factors are appearances, and performances in those appearances.
I would like to say Jamie Brotherton, but he wasn't the best at the start of the season so that rules him out.
Karly Akehurst has been very good, but was he that brilliant during our bad spell?
Stuart Axten is the same as Akehurst really.
Rikki Banks has been very good, but has had some lapses of concentration lately, and obviously he has had less to do than last year.
For me though, it has to be Ben Andrews. Conistent throughout, top scorer, captain, played the majority of games, he would be my pick.
One final important thing to consider is the passion, and you have to say, Ben has plenty of that.

Sam Gargan - The season wouldnt have even started without his early goals, the 'Bloor/Pook out' dry spell would have came a few months earlier.
Maybe not exactly player of the whole season for obvious reasons but i think he was very influential.

Sam Gargan - The season wouldnt have even started without his early goals... Can you award player of the season to someone was only with us for 3 months on loan? Not devaluing Gargan's contribution, but nominating him doesn't say much for the players who have contributed all season. I know the players have to take some responsibility for the mid-season slump, but commitment and effort have got to be a contributing factor in choosing a player of the year, surely. The players who's names keep coming up have displayed that, even when results weren't what we hoped for.

I believe that after the mid season slump, the whole team bonded alot better as a unit. because of which, in my opinion no single player stood out to me due to the whole team standard being that much higher.
To me Gargan stood out, although for a shorter period of time, I believe he made the most significant impact on the team so we could believe we could win the league.
Without him, and any other attacking presence for that matter and around 10 midfielders for the management to pick from to put wrongly up front, we had the poor run of around 20 games.
Just my opinion, i'm not asking you to agree.

But I do agree with your assessment of his contribution. Just not sure anyone on a 3 month loan could justify being called Player of the Year.
