For me, there are a couple of things against Ben Andrews. He has passion, commitment, is first name on the team sheet, etc. in bucket loads BUT ....
He went on holiday in January and missed several games, was then ill (he can't help that) and missed several more games and his indiscipline / dissent has cost us several more games over the season. Of his yellow cards, how many are for dissent - maybe 75%? Don't forget he's also an ex-professional who's cut it with the big boys and in our league should nearly always be the top man.
Karly , on the other hand, has been pretty consistent for someone so young and inexperienced. He's had poorer games, but having been booked about 4 times in his first 6 games he has learnt from it and hardly been booked since. You still get his desire, engine, commitment, etc and he really is pulling the strings. IMO over the last 10 weeks he has been almost unstoppable, the perfect central midfielder though he needs to score goals and I think, sadly, Conf South clubs should be looking at him.
Banks and Axten would also get into my top 4.

I believe the holiday Ben took was meant to coincide with the suspension he had to serve but was a bit of an admin foul up!
And from what i've heard higher than Conf South teams have been looking at Karly........

As a captain he probably is the most likely to pick up booking for dissent though. Many people have said to try and stamp dissent out of the game that only the captain should be allowed to speak to the referee and thats what he has done. Also his holiday was due to be during his suspension was it not? But complications meant that it eventually wasn't. Banks and Axten would also get into my top 4. I agree with the top four, it must be those four, but Brotherton is knocking at the door so maybe it would be a top five. Picking a top three is definately harder, but I still think that Ben is player of the season.

Is it not usually a striker or attacking mid fielder who wins the Player of the Year ?. They are more pleasing on the eye (well sometimes !) and supporters tend to remember goals scored. Strikers can have numerous attempts on goal but as long as they score that's fine.Defenders and goalkeepers are hung drawn and quartered for any mistake they make ,as usually this results in a goal.

Despite my voting for Ben I would have to say that as a captain he doesn't seem very vocal on the pitch, but then again neither is anyone else. I would hope that the noise we make is enough to gee up the players, and of course help to drown out Danny.
Can I still say that with the team doing well?

I think Matt Phelan would have walked this award had he not got injured. I still think that pound-for-pound, per minute on the pitch, he's been far the most entertaining player we've seen in a Rebels shirt this season.
Just hope we see him in a Worthing shirt again next year!

Agree with the sentiments re: Matt Phelan. Certainly in the early half of this season, he looked our best genuine 'flair' player with real creative talent in midfield. Fingers crossed, he still with us next season and fully fit.
