When there was a fans get together with the chairman / manager I spoke to Pete stone and asked if the club needed money and was told "no " , very clearly . Now i I agree in the main about various thoughts on the way tthat the club is being run regarding players BUT shouldn't it be about winning ? If you are happy to turn up on a match day and watch a team " take part " then so be it . The fans will just drift away and won't come back . Competitive young players want to win . Players coming to the club " want to win " . Letting our best players go will have an impact on the club as a whole . Sport is about competition and of course winning is the aim. However, at non-league level, it is not the be all and end all. The professional side of the game is a different matter altogether, both on and off the pitch. The main draw of non-league football is the relaxed atmosphere, supporters of both clubs being allowed to freely mingle without any heavy handed nonsense from the authorities, being able to have a drink at the side of the pitch if you wish to partake. Why is this possible in non-league football and not the professional game? Because it is not all about the need to win and therefore tensions and emotions are more tempered if results go against you. As I said before, the supporters will only drift away if the product on the pitch is not deemed to be value for money or there becomes a disconnect between the supporters, players, management etc. Lets be honest, success and Worthing have hardly gone together over the past 15 years or so, but we now have the biggest attendance in the division for the aforementioned reasons.

One time Worthing youth and first team player Mickey Demetriou scored one of the penalties that saw Newport County edge past Mansfield to make it to the League 2 playoff final. Good luck to Mickey in the Wembley final.

Best of luck to the players who are departing, letβs hope for some quality signings. More than a little worrying that the current 11 have a distinct lack of experience. Iβd like to see a few old heads in the team (obviously local ) as that seems to be the official line from the club. I look forward to hearing the next 5 year plan.

Excellent news but I would like to see more from Callum Kealy next season . He looks the part but for me and I can't put my finger on it , there is something missing . He looks a strong lad but doesn't seem to put himself about . Thoughts anyone ?

Absolutely agree with above comment. For me, Callum is the weakest link in the team.

Personally i dont think we have seen the best of Callum yet but he is someone i rate and feel he does a job for the team. I feel he is someone who relies on service and he would get more goals if we played wingers rather than wing backs. Having said this 10 goals is a good return baring in mind how much time he spent on the bench. I like his hold up play and his ability to chase things down and hurry defenders. He is someone who puts in a shift every game often doing the things that are less glamorous.

He is someone who puts in a shift every game often doing the things that are less glamorous. This is more my line of thinking too, definitely not the weakest link in the team for me.
His work rate is second to none, he's always looking to make an early run and is sadly only very rarely spotted as the defence midfield fall back too readily on the sideways/backwards thing. Despite these countless efforts wasted by the lack of an early pass forwards he keep doing them, a lesser player would give up.
As you say he's strong and holds the ball up well, in a team that is arguably a bit 'lightweight' if we'd lost him we'd be a whole heap lighter.
Maybe he does things that are perhaps a bit easier to miss than the 'twinkle toe' stuff Kwame and David do and the fantastic passing range of Ricky. But without his movement occupying defenders the space for those runs/passes would be diminished.
I am glad he is staying on, as I'm sure are the players around him who benefit from his presence in the team.

Full respect with comments from Whatters/ Keithsson regarding Callum BUT 10 goals is just not good enough . Crane 6 goals & Rents 7 and we let them go doesn't stack up for me as to why you think Callum has a lot to offer . He is just to lightweight for me for a reasonably big lad . He needs to score more goals for a forward . I'm sorry guys I just don't rate him but let's see how next season goes and perhaps the manager will have a bit more faith in him as you say Whatters with how much time he has spent on the bench .

If we were playing a more traditional formation and tactics I might agree regarding the goal return. But saying that strikers come with different briefs (and I don't mean their pants!). If your brief is to hold up 1st phase possession and recycle into 2nd phase possession you won't score as many as if you're the goal poacher. Basically I've always used the rule that the game to goals ratio doesn't tell you everything, it's a bit binary. It's what they do for the team as a whole that should be the yardstick for me. Anyhoots, all opinions are valid opinions... and in other news Hinch's opinions on the released Albion youngsters can be found here - Herald

First of all , what an opportunity for him , congratulations Kwame and I wish you well for the future . Now this to me just clarifies my worries for worthing fans who want Worthing to compete and gain promotion . We are producing very good talented youngsters who will want to go to clubs that are ambitious and want best players . Players who should be wanting to play for a club who want success . I'm telling you now , we will be developing these players to move on . I've said before in previous posts we are letting or telling our best players to move on . On a Saturday I want to watch our club to compete to move up with the best possible players who we have developed or brought in to the club - it's Not going to happen . I'm sure I will get told but look where the club is now BUT we are producing talent for other clubs !!! What does this say for the current players who have just agreed to stay ? Good luck for next season Kwame , it was a pleasure watching you . Another one bits the dust - where will it stop ? Nobody knows ??
