If form has any part to play in the playoffs then have a look at little league table i Put together for the Last 10 Games
1st Worthing - 8 - 1 - 1 - 24 - 10 - 25pts - (+14) 2nd Dover - 8 - 1 - 1 - 13 - 3 - 25pts - (+10) 3rd Cray - 5 - 4 - 1 - 19 - 11 - 19pts - (+10) 4th Toot - 6 - 1 - 3 - 15 - 7 - 19pts - (+ 8 ) 5th Ks - 5 - 2 - 3 - 19 - 16 - 17pts - (+ 3 ) 6th Police - 6 - 0 - 4 - 16 - 8 - 15pts - (+ 8 )
If you take Dover out of there then we are on a big role, the only problem we have is that we will not get to play at Woodside in the play-offs.
Should we make the final do you think the club would try and lay on transport for the fans as we will make a difference if they can get an extra 100 fans to an away game, it wouldn't harm them!!!

From a thread lower down I presume that as it stands either Cray or Tooting get both play-off games at Home?
Transport could be investigated buit I doubt they would lay it on for nothing.
I wonder what's going on down there, as the VP bar was not manned on Friday and not open after, with Morty saying the bar will not be open for the last home game either. That, and they havent got Sky TV in there anymore.
I seriously hope that, assuming we do make the playoffs, the support is strong in numbers.

I think there was a problem with the Beer delivery!!!!
Not sure why it would be closed on the last home game aswell though.
Maybe they do not want to over order this close to the end of the year!
Speaking to a friend who runs a bar, I believe that subscription for Sky in business premises has risen to around £6,000 a year including Sport!!
I think we would all agree that that kind of money would be better spet elsewhere!

If we finish fourth and Met Police win their play-off then we play them at home in the final don't we?

At the very least Sky Sports News is free on any digibox and 6grand sounds a lot but it's just about £120 a week. If having Sky and opening the bar for more hours increased the takings by say £500 a week then it could still make good financial sense. In most clubs at this level the bar is an important source of income. It's up to us to maximise its potential and not just on matchdays.

In that case the club could end up embaressed as haven't they organised that 5-a-side tournament at Woodside road on the 3rd May ( i understand that is the play off final day?) Obviously no-body counted on us possibly getting 4th Place.
Huge cock-up if that is the case!
i am a total beleiver in speculate to accumalate.
The main bar should have a large investment in there. In does not match the "Rebels" Tavern in looks. Why its called the Rebels Tavern when all the Real rebels fans can not use it i do not understand.
The bar has a license to sell liquer seven days a week. Yet it is never opens out of Match Days is not inviting to people to come out for a drink instead of going and paying those stupid prices in town. No Fruit machine, No quiz machine, No pool table and no food.
Most of us have a local yet we can not go to our local cub for a drink.
The bar up at whyteleaf was very nice, friendly and had a large atmosphre for a reletively small place.
Beer, Machines, Sky and pool that will pull in the crowds outside of match days and keep them there well into the night on matchdays. And more importantly everyone knows that fruit machines only pay out about 30% of what the take! That along with a pool table and quiz machine (or two) will make pure cash for the Club.
Isn't the chairman in the gambling business, why hasn't he gone down this road already. (oh and a juke box)
Oh just give me the job of running the place it would be a lot easier!!!!!!!

Step four play-off final day is Saturday 3rd May (for all six divisions); whether this can be changed is probably down to the Isthmian League to rule on and the acceptance of the other club who may be involved.
However if we do happen to end up making the final with a home game then.... well the first team comes first - end of story.
The idea of the 5-a-side is great, I just hope the club had a contingency plan for the 5-a-side at the point of inception; if not then it raises major questions about the administration of the clubs affairs as this is pretty basic schedule management.

We were touching on the number of games still being played on the pitch. If the bar is going to be closed it surely is a lot of missed opportunities. On non-matchdays when there is football on Sky Im sure they could attract a few to the bar if they maintained the subscription. Re the form, we showed on Friday that we are still rolling along nicely. Now just to hope that we don't run out of steam at the wrong time.

July, great ideas. I'm guessing you've spent a lot of your time in bars!
Rolo did have a few good ideas a few years back for stuff like a sunday roast like they do at Bognor. Maybe, as there's a few care homes nearby, offer it to them in the afternoons where there's not bowling and they can go out and have the odd nip of sherry or whatnot. A bit of bingo or something to keep the bar ticking over in the afternoon.
There are plenty of students and all who'd work the bars and do it cheaply as well, minimum wage or just a bit more.
I think a main reason the bars are/were underused is the closed circle drinking club mentality there was beforehand, and well done to Pook, Agnew and all for getting rid of that and making this a WFC for everyone, not the elite few. Well done on shutting the Rebels Tavern and hopefully we can now make the other bar a proper WFC fans bar. Maybe the off shirt on the wall, a bit of memorabilia and we can turn it into a bit of a Rebels' fans pub, open a few weeknights, offering quiz nights, food on certain days, kareoke, bands, stuff like that.
Whatever is done with it though, it must be hugely plugged to Worthing. Adverts in the Herald, advertising it as a social venue and a pub venue, rather than an extension of WFC.
There's plenty of scope for a resource a lot of clubs would give a hell of a lot for and I hope the fantastic commercial guys see this thread and perhaps share their plans for turning this dormant resource into a goldmine and hub of the community it could be.

Thank you El capitano
I have run a few bars and clubs in my time and aggree with everything you have put above.
Have noticed over the past few away games that we have been at that the vars have run something of a 200 club. Even down in that hole of a Whitehawk clubhouse they run it, where people can win £200 every week. YES PLEASE.
The close season is the best time to do this so people get in there and have a look at the ground and understand how the club works and that WILL generate interest to come along to home games.
four grand invested and that bar could clean up. I know the club is in the middle of a housing area but so is the Southdown and the West Tarring club and the Downview, Shall I go on!!! And they all pack out regulary, and i know a load of the WFC staff and fans use those places already.
A local is a Local. Other end of the Scale is "Shearer's Bar" up in the grounds of Newcastle's Stadium and that place is packed out all the time and they do not share a ground or play reserve matches etc there either.
