Crikey Football clubs, it seems, are being put through the mincer more and more. Are the council struggling to find sites to fulfill their government imposed housing quota? P.S. I hope that banner picture has been stretched, if not ,their fans have a serious weight issue

Not good news at all for the hill billies. I wonder what Isthmian League rules are about being allowed (or not) to start a season without the guarantee of a permanent home ground for the whole campaign.

A Club may share its ground (subject to the provisions of Rule 4.12) with another club (including a club engaged in another sport) providing, in the case of any football club, the club playing in the most senior competition has priority of fixtures and, in the case of any other club, providing the Club has priority of fixtures. In the case of dispute the Company shall have the power to accept an alternative agreement on priority.
4.12 No Club shall move to another ground or seek to share a ground, including its own, without first obtaining the consent, in writing, of the Board. Any ground sharing agreement for a period in excess of 13 weeks must be in writing and be approved by the Board before being entered into and (except in an emergency) completed by 31st May in each year to be effective for the following Playing Season. A copy of the completed agreement must be sent to the League Secretary within 7 days of signing.
above taken from The Isthmian Football League handbook
how you interpret "except in an emergency" is crucial. The league could choose not to see it as an unforeseen emergency if the rumours about unpaid rent are true, if they felt the club should have seen it coming or if they feel that the club has sufficient time to organise alternative lodgings from knowing this could happen to the deadline date (including the time it would take for the league to sit down and decide on approval). I cannot see any reference to not being able to change during the season, just that it has to be approved by 31st May. As with most things ryman it seems that the rules can be interrupted as the blaziers see fit depending on whether your face fits.

Not good news at all, what are their ground share options?
It seems from here that folding is likely as I would doubt that they have the finance for a new ground if they can't pay the rent on their current home

Eight points is not a problem at all, £400 no doubt does not help, however they have far bigger problems on their plate right now - yes it could get much worse for them.

Seems a very harsh punishment imo for what was (probably) little more than a clerical error similar to the AFC one last year. Still, as mentioned, it's probably the last of their worries right now. The player concerned has played in this country for a while.
As I remember, he was fairly pants when he played for Worthing.

Charming comment by one of their fans "More likely they need the land to house more bleedin foreigners."
Class.
It's a real shame though for Burgess Hill and their normal, decent, non racist fans, of which there must be some somewhere, I'm sure.

Not good news at all, what are their ground share options? It seems from here that folding is likely as I would doubt that they have the finance for a new ground if they can't pay the rent on their current home Been having a read of some comments on lots of forums and all can, at least, see the wider picture. As fans we are not EXACTLY sure what has brought this lease closure about. It is said there are issues with the rent? How much? how many times? are we talking hours days or weeks? The flood light issue is an old chestnut and the hobby horse of 2 residents and 1 district councillor (The lights at the leisure centre are always on beyond 10.30pm by the way) You can bet the land will not be leased to anyone else if this goes ahead. The club, the 3 public pitches behind and the scrubby land next to that will all go for housing - which of course means that not only would the club lose its pitch, which includes the junior teams, but various park teams and residents also lose their pitches. I dont know the answer for sure but I would say its safe to assume that MSDC have done nothing to actively help the club in any way to look for another site. The directors are keeping mum at the moment while the process goes through lawyers etc. Ground sharing looks very tricky SCL clubs cant share, Worthing obviously cant do that, Crawley; thats not going to happen. Which leaves us with YMCA, Lewes, Crowborough or EBorough. Honestly I cant see iether of those coming off or working, its too far to maintain a healthy "home" support. MSDC have history with this sort of thing. Crawley Down escaped by the skin of their teeth. Unless you own your own ground in the Mid Sussex area, be afraid, be very afraid.

I really feel for any team that is forced out of their ground. I hope all goes well in search of another one.
