And what if the 'drunk' had turned out to be a driver who'd had a heart attack or some such? Do you think the thug who beat him up stopped even for a heartbeat to consider such a possibility?
If you condone the actions of a vigilante, just pray that you're never the victim of one of their 'mistakes'. Or you may get to be the Strange Fruit on their tree.

drunk, stolen car, i still think justice was done, i cant see many people sticking up for him. even he said he deserved a wacking.

Agree - could easily have been (but wasn't, in this instance) a diabetic having a hypo or an epileptic having a fit. This does happen: my step-dad discovered he was epileptic after crashing a Glasgow passenger bus into a flower display in the middle of a big roundabout many years ago (before I knew him). Cost him his job (epileptics are banned from driving for a period after each fit and can never hold a PSV licence), and the council a large gardening bill, but thankfully no other damage to anyone or anything. Could easily have been a very similar situation to the one in the article, though.
