As you may already be aware, Mid Sussex District Council has served a notice of eviction against Burgess Hill Town Football Club which, after more than 125 years of history, could force the club into extinction. This means that the home game being played this coming Saturday (26th April 2008) will not only be the last game of the first-team season, but could also be the last game played by the club. The fans of the club would like to extend the invitation for you to join us for this occasion. We would like to make this day a “fans day” where we can all be united in our passion for football and show local council the importance of this sport in the community – come one, come all. We would love it if you could wear your team’s colours and bring your flags/banners/vocal cords. The club are also supporting us in this by lowering the admission prices for the game; Adults £4, Concessions £2, kids for free. So please come along to support Burgess Hill Town and grass roots football. Hillians Supporters Forum: thehillians.proboards30.com/

So please come along to support Burgess Hill Town and grass roots football. I'm sure no-one wants to see another club go out of business, and the genuine supporters have my sympathy. However, I can't see myself consciously supporting BHTFC - and my £8 on the gate at Woodside (plus programme, golden goal and 50/50 tickets, tea and mars bar, replica shirt, hat and scarf), that's my support for grass roots football. I do think the idea of fans from all over wearing their own colours and uniting in a love for the game is a good idea, and a noble cause. Having said that, my last experience of going there has tainted my view of the club. I realise that the trouble caused last season was not the doing of the regular fans, but the club and the Ryman league received several letters that I know of regarding the events inside and outside the groud. Neither the club or the league responded in any way, it would appear both are prepared to turn a blind eye. So, I could go to Burgess Hill where I've experienced the most hostile home crowd of any non-league ground I've visited - or do I go to Woodside Road to see our last home game of the season and celebrate achieving a play-off place amongst friends? On the prospect of the Hillians playing somewhere else, I clicked on the link to your forum and found the following... thehillians.proboards30.com/index.cgi?board=general&action=display&thread=550 - it would seem beggars CAN be choosers after all! P.S. If BHTFC does fold, does that give Horsham YMCA a possible extra lifeline, other than the prospect of league rejiggery?

So please come along to support Burgess Hill Town and grass roots football. I've never seen BHTFC so cant comment on the problems, although the experience of people on here doesnt make me want to miss Worthing's last game. If the game could have been shifted to the sunday there would have been many more supporters. Coming on to a non league forum and requesting to support grass roots football is kind of preaching to the converted. We do that every week. And the problem with non-league is that we know there's not loads of money in the game anyway, and our own clubs need the money that we bring through the turnstile. I hope BHTFC do sort themselves out with a ground, as its a shame to see any club die. Im afraid, like Jim, I'll be at Woodside.

I too hope Burgess Hill are ok, but my experiences with them have been far less than pleasurable and I find them one of the more dislikable clubs I have come across.
I certainlky won't be anywhere but Woodside either and it's a bit cheeky trying to poach support from other non league sides.
Not wanting to be harsh, but Burgess Hill DID miss their rent payments. It's not as if they've some dodgy old geezer trying to flog the ground to line his pockets is it? If I were to be a month or so late with rent at my gaff, I'd expect to be out on my ear and I doubt I'd get a great deal of sympathy. It's a similar principle.
Good luck to them, but I'm afraid I doubt there'll be a lot of charity round this way.

I echo both Jim and AG's comments above.
+ we've already got (hopefully)two away games to go to after saturday, so don't think many Worthing Fans would want to go to another when we, like Jim said, celebrate the play offs amongst friends.
Good luck to BHTFC, but if you fold dos that mean that we can keep Puller's on to become part of our Youth Coaching team!!!!!!!

P.S. If BHTFC does fold, does that give Horsham YMCA a possible extra lifeline, other than the prospect of league rejiggery? Possibly, the way it generally works (if your face fits and the dead men in suites are actually awake for long enough) is that the highest placed relegated teams with the best playing record from all the divisions at the same level of the pyramid would be offered a reprieve first. There are six step four divisions however at present it appear that the teams relegated from the Northern Premier League Division One's would not be reprieved as Alsgar failed ground grading and Newcastle Blue Star has resigned (rumour has it that they may have changed their minds though!) The current order (after the past weekend) of the remaining step four teams in a relegation spot based on positions then points per game is: 21st (pld pts PPG) Slough Town 40 31 0.775 Ilford 41 29 0.707 Horsham YMCA 40 24 0.600 Berkhamsted Town 38 11 0.289 22nd (pld pts PPG) Wivenhoe Town 41 28 0.683 Molesey 40 18 0.450 Newport IOW 41 11 0.268 Thus at present Slough would be in poll position for a reprieve in these circumstance with YMCA 3rd in line. However this could all change due to the randomness of the way these things are administered; also the rumoured changes to Step four would probably render most of this irrelevant except for the 22nd placed teams. Hopefully it won't come to this, at due to the Hill Billies demise anyway.

In their more recent times at Windsor it was always a pleasure to visit both them and Windsor & Eton. Have missed our trips there this season.
