The following quote was taken from the Nomad Forum concerning the reserve leagues for next season.
"I had also heard that Oakwood have left for the surburban, and Worthing have also withdrawn, as they now have too many teams playing on their pitch now they are groundsharing with Horsham. "
Another comment made was the reserves link into Worthing United !!. What about the youth ?

I honestly do not know about the Reserve team YET.
Pookie believes in his Youth they will not go anywhere and if anything the plan is to make them bigger in numbers.
Dues posible fixture conjestion they may have to play some games elsewhere, especially if we have the same cup runs as this season has produced.
Come on Kent stop worrying, just wait and see!!

That's a comment on a forum - how does that equate to fact?
A reserve team is tricky to get the best out of, and makes a heavy demand of a club, both financial, and more importantly of the personnel who have to run one. It's not an essential part of having a successful non-league set up, but a Youth Team is.
By way of example, how many players have come into the first team having been regularly playing well for the reserves but who are NOT eligible to play for the youth? One - Enzo Benn.
How many players from this year's Youth team have tunred out for the first team? Eleven.
How many players from last year's Youth Team are regular starters in the first team? Three (although you could also add Enzo as an answer).
I'd also argue that having four of your first team being fed directly from the Youth set-up is an excellent return that many other clubs would fail to replicate.
Most of the reserves are Youth team players anyway, and they've played an awful lot of games this season. There's no point running a reserve team constituted of players who are not going to get into the first team, and there's no way you could keep a full reserve team of those who are good enough happy and playing (unless you are Chelsea).
It's a quandary that has taxed non-league clubs for many a year, and isn't going to be easy to solve.
When it comes to the people needed, not only do you need managers /coaches, physios who have to give up their time, but you need poeple to put the game on too. Prepare the pitch & changing rooms (and clear up afterwards), open up when needed, lay out and wash the kit, make players + refs sandwiches & drinks, take them through at the right time, man the bar, and the tea hut and if possible the tunrstile to take some money to cover the cost of referee + aforementioned sandwiches (~£40 for reserves & £85 for Youth). All that stuff (most of which has to happen for every game, be it Worthing League or First Team) has to be covered
It's all things that need to be done as part of a 'proper' football club that takes manpower - and there's a lot more besides that isn't directly related to football.

I have never been in favour of reserve team football. If a player isn't hovering around our first team at 19 then dare I say it, he will probably never make it. If he drifts into the County League then we can entice him back anyway. We can always dual sign players with County League clubs to keep them fit and call them back if we need them. Many reserve teams are run as glorified social clubs for players who are never going to make it when they should be constantly feeding players into the firsts, which our YOUTH team is already doing. And Eastbourne Borough excepted, the standard is abysmal. And the cost of just running a side is horrendous. End of rant PS - Are Al's remarks affirming the view that a Reserve side is unlikely at the A2B next season? PPS - Are you (Al) able to shed any light on the Brighton situation and whether the point has been made about Bromley/Cray/Chrystal Palarse Reserves?

That's my opinion on reserves, nothing official. Deliberations are still being made, and I don't think there's a favourite as yet between yay or nay. Of course, the Horsham thingy isn't actually settled yet.
The specific point regarding B/C/CrP hasn't been made as yet, but it's there for consideration at the appropriate time. Brighton are considering what to do with their reserves in an attempt to raise their profile, I feel, but again, no decisions made but conversations are happening.

Have BHA already made a move? There was an announcement at Bognor on Tuesday that BHA's reserves would be playing there on Wednesday(free admission).

Looking at their website, Wednesday's game was the only home game that they have played away from Woodside Road this season; the original tie against Wycombe was scheduled for 26th March at Woodside Road but was postponed. They have played 7 times here this season, their 8th home league game being on Wednesday (remember that they play all their SSC games before the semi-finals away even if drawn at home). Cannot find any news items announcing any changes.
