Assuming they don't win the play-off promotion spot I see Maidstone as a potential 'runaway' side next season in the NLS. The wedge they now have thanks to their cup exploits this season is massive and will undoubtedly be ploughed into a concerted promotion push. According to their forum the monies from the cup run are already allocated for pitch replacement and other ground works but I guess there will still be some for existing and future players.

Heard The same Kenty.
The Maidstone chairman was on Radio 5 a couple of weeks ago after their fantastic win at Ipswich and stated that the bulk of the cup money so far, £400,000, was earmarked for replacing their pitch.
He also said that it would cost around £2 million to get their ground up to football league status!?
TV money was also spoken about. National League North and South clubs receive £20,000 a season, National League side £80,000 a season and I'm sure he said League 2 sides get a much bigger share.

For our level that's not a bad chunk, considering some sides don't get any live TV games, but then again it's a drop in the ocean compared to the very top so... catch 22 I guess?

Am I right in saying we've actually not beaten anyone in the current playoff positions except Bath? Be interesting to see a current top 7 table with just the head to head fixtures in. This is a good point. We haven't. And we've still got to play 5 of them again. Which could be seen as an opportunity, or a threat...

Bumping this to see what people feel now we are in the play-offs.
If, as seems very possible, we lose Ollie, Cash, Joe Felix, Joe Rye and Joel for next season, is going up an even less attractive proposition?

I don’t see how we would lose them players if we was to go up? If we don’t go up then yes…

Without an experienced manager with a big old black book of contacts to source quality replacements... hell yes. I'd have changed my vote though. As explained elsewhere I'd now be a 'cast la vie fence sitter'. The only thing though that's changed is that gorgeous North stand application. The only way we get it built is with grant funding once in the NL. We go up, we get spanked every week, we come down again with a shiny new look ground that's better equipped to go up and stay up in the future. Quite what the 'hit' would be to our squad and our attendances though would remain to be seen ☹

I don’t see how we would lose them players if we was to go up? If we don’t go up then yes… Because they know they'll get torn a new one every week if they stay. And their stock will only go down if they don't move this summer. Genuinely, I think this is as good as it gets for us for the forseeable without significant investment (which has its own terrifying consequences, consequences I can live without). Enjoy the next game (or two) because up or down, its 'all change' next season.

Do you have inside information on this? I’ve heard if Worthing don’t go up then Ollie is off to York but that isn’t exactly rocket science!

I'm moving to the "Neutral" stance for purely selfish reasons i.e Gateshead, Fylde, York, Altrincham etc etc.
Yes we'll get properly spanked but I can get to them fairly easily without breaking the bank (or the car). 720 mile round trips are getting a bit tiring for both me and the motor

I don't have inside information, but I have heard that several of our current first team squad have offers to play elsewhere as full-time pros next season. And this is the price of success, we are where we are in the footballing pecking order and players have short careers. I don't begrudge them, we've done very well from them and in return we'll have been very good for them. Such is life, mutual benefit. Its who is in charge and what can they bring in to replace whoever leaves that needs to exercise our thinking in the summer. Stay in NLS and our very own Brad's, Chopper's etc can augment with quality NLS signings, we'll still be an attractive proposition for good NLS players. Go up and God only knows who we'll attract, knowing as everyone will, that it'd be a minor miracle to stay up as a part time/hybrid squad with probably the leagues lowest budget. ...but we get a huge boost to our bricks and mortar infrastructure, a necessary stepping stone to mounting a more sustained challenge some time in the future.

I don't think there will be any surprise that we will loose players.
This is why it's vital for the club to get a manager in who is experienced in recruitment.
I'm still on the fence regarding promotion to NLP but we will won't know until we try it.
The club will know when we're ready.

I reckon the forwards and midfield are good enough as footballers but defensively a big fat no. Two goals conceded against Weston would be six against the likes of Southend.
