So news that has now been confirmed by the club, I had heard rumours but appears there is going to be a WFC documentary!! Hmmmm, I mean okay! I hope this is a natural and honest opinion of the club, I don't want some Welcome to Wrexham nonsense and football glory hunters turning up at Woodside riding the back of some romantic story, I'd rather see us grow organically!

Or what it if turns out it has the same effect as Bunch of Amateurs Dorking Uncovered. If it means more people turn up because of the documentary isn’t that a good thing? More money coming into the club. Which means the club can invest the money into facilities/squad etc. George his story has been told often enough in the papers. So is a documentary a natural follow up ? Will be interesting to see who is behind it and what it will mean for the club. Me? Can’t wait to see the results.

Club Site article - LinkI think we'd get a better steer of what sort of documentary it'll be findonrebel had they disclosed who the "major broadcaster" was. I hope we're placed in good hands is all I'll say. There's a world of difference between the supportive sympathetic narrative of a careful caring production... and the crass, over dramatic sensationalism of one of those 'docu/drama' entities. They say there's no such thing as bad publicity, but I wouldn't want us to come out of it looking stupid. Handled sensitively though, bring it on, the more interest the merrier 👍🏻

If it's done properly and with the club at heart and not a over glamourised story then it could be really good, but as mentioned it would help if we knew who was broadcasting it, if it's UKTV Gold then...

According to the cameraman chap at a recent game, Chippenham I think, he mentioned he was filming for TNT Sports.

According to the cameraman chap at a recent game, Chippenham I think, he mentioned he was filming for TNT Sports. If it is TNT sports then it will be interesting to see how they portray the story and then sell that to viewers, I have TNT sports and to be honest all I watch on it is the live broadcasts, so I'm curious to see how they will sell it. Side story but as re brands go, going from BT sports to TNT is about as bad as it gets if you ask me!

GEORGE DOWELL SAVED MY SATURDAY!
As the second goal went in against Maidstone this weekend the mature gentleman in his 70’s in front of me shouted out “George Dowell saved my Saturday” in the euphoria of celebrating that second goal.
Those words “George Dowell saved my Saturday” should be the title of this documentary but George has done a lot more than that. Football brings out strong emotions in people. What George has given our mature gentleman, his friend, and any number of us, and this is not an age thing, it applies from babies upwards is something to look forward to, something to live for, something to take your mind away from the daily grind, a reason to carry on.
When you take this away from fans. Fans are looking at a desert, a desolate waste land with nothing to do and nothing to live for. To really understand it you must go back to my time as a steward at BHA’s Goldstone ground in the mid 90’s when the above was about to be taken away from Brighton fans.
Brighton fans at that time, as now, were all decent people. Thugs didn’t follow Brighton, they just didn’t attract that sort of idiot, who might support Millwall, West Ham or Leeds of course, there was the odd muppet, but nothing really worried us. Away fans could be challenging. but that was Sussex Police’s problem.
It was the Bellotti/Archer era and the ground had been sold, the end of Brighton looked in sight. There was no hope, just a lot of anger, protest and sometimes fighting and even one Saturday more or less rioting when a corner flag spike went through the tunnel door missing a steward’s head by inches. Yes, we were lucky no one was seriously injured or killed. That was the Saturday stewards used fire extinguishers to keep the fans out of the West Stand as they tried to enter through the directors box.
We were told in our briefing the next weekend not to use the fire extinguishers as it upset the fans, but I had to protect the players’ wives and children as my job at this time was players lounge steward on the players lounge and so when the protests started outside all that was between me and some very very angry fans was a solid oak door. Luckily for me the door held, but there I was with fire extinguisher at the ready.
One Saturday I was working on the club car park which was situated opposite the ground on the Southwest corner. Brighton were losing as always at that time 2-0.
A mature gentleman in his 70’s came out of the ground in floods of tears, because Brighton were losing and the end of the club was in sight it looked like it was all over. It was a heartbreaking sight and one I will never forget.
Now imagine this could be Worthing FC, that could have been our mature gentleman, his friend, and any number of us. Imagine if there was no Worthing FC and Woodside Road was a housing estate what a bland and boring place Worthing would be and what would we do on Saturdays?
But its not is it. George Dowell stepped in and on Saturday I was surrounded by happy people making memories with their families and friends. George has stated that he didn’t save the club but that the club saved him and I sure that is 100% true because George is the same as all of us and what drives us drives him.
However, it is more than that George has prolonged lives. Worthing FC gives the older generation a reason to keep going to keep fit, he has given the younger generation something to do and something to buy into, he has given families and indeed the community across the generations something to bond over football.
George has bought money and a positive vibe into the community our little micro pub the Green Man has rocked after games, and we have some great chats with away fans as we bond over a love of non-league football and beer. I know the same applies in the Brookstead, the West Worthing Working Men’s Club and of course the Railway. Other pubs probably have their contingents as well and none of that would have happened without George Dowell. Without a shadow of a doubt there is a beer for George Dowell in all these establishments. I can assure George if he comes to the Green Man on a Saturday especially after a good win, he will get royally pi**ed and he won’t have to buy a beer. I am worried about the width of the door, but with the right advice, assistance, and prior planning we will get George in.
Whilst all the above is brilliant, and all that’s great. What separates George from other football club owners is his own personal circumstances and how he has faced them and how he has made such a difference. All the time people find themselves suddenly put in the position George found himself in.
If I was working in Salisbury where George was treated and had his rehabilitation. In fact, if I was working anywhere in the world where people are being treated and rehabilitated all I would talk about is George Dowell. Because George is an inspiration to carry on, your life is not over, you can achieve things, you can achieve great things and you can make a difference in your community.
Although I have written a lot, I don’t think you can put into words or do justice in a documentary to the difference George being George has made. The great thing about having this documentary is hopefully it will be shown across the world so more and more people in George’s position can gain inspiration from what George has done.
George Dowell has saved a lot of peoples Saturday’s. George Dowell has saved a lot of people’s lives.
If anyone deserves an honour or a knighthood its George Dowell.

So. Play-off semi-final, two minutes to go, Maidstone player hits the cross-bar from 6 yards, Worthing break and Pearce scores the winner...
As Mr Courtnadge said after the match yesterday, it's as though there was a TV crew in the ground filming a documentary...
Now, how does it end?
