Football can be so cruel sometimes.
I went to watch Tow Law Town tonight playing Whickham at home. This would be the Lawyers first home game since 11/11/23 due to waterlogging and going into the game they had lost their last 20 league games, their only point being from a draw on the opening day of the season. Despite this they do have some hope of avoiding relegation from Northern League 1 as Sunderland RCA have only 4 points, their one win coming against guess who?
Anyway, after 55 mins Law are 2-0 up, have just saved a Whickham pen and the fans (85 in attendance) are daring to dream.
At full time it's 3-2 to Whickham.
Ouch. You have to feel for Tow Law but they will go again and, by chance, the final game of the season is Tow Law v Sunderland RCA.
I bet that for the Law fans the old adage of "It's the hope that kills you" was never more apt

I saw Tow Law Town in an FA Cup 2nd Round replay in 1968 when a victory would have seen them with a home tie v Arsenal. They lost 6-2 at Shrewsbury in front of 14,000.

As I know all Rebels love a happy ending I am very pleased to report that, at the 28th time of asking (24 league games and 4 cup ties), Tow Law have finally won, a fine 3-1 away win at the mighty Northallerton Town!
Ok, they're still bottom on 4 points with an inferior GD, but since only one team gets relegated they can look towards survival and world domination. Guess who I will be watching on Tuesday night; once a glory hunter, always a glory hunter.

They question the appointment still and some are not happy. But as we know Adam needs time to implement his style of play. And that happens not overnight. And does he have the right players for that? Saw yesterday they bought a winger from Eastbourne. That raised a lot of questions as well. Going from a club in the relegation zone in NLS to a club a league higher. York fans don’t seem happy.

On that subject Kenty, here's one for you*, uniquely placed as you are to give an objective view...
Is the NLN a vastly higher standard than the NLS? 🤔
One of the many sticks being used to beat Hinsh, and yesterday Gravata... and by extension us... is to dismiss any and all achievements made in the NLS as meaningless because the NLN is so vastly superior.
These are the same people who, in the next breath, say they won't bother watching their club next season when (not if) they drop to the "awful", "part time", "village team" depths of the NLN. Huh? 🤷🏻
I'm not sure they're capable of spotting the massive contradiction of those two standpoints, burdened as they are by such a huge superiority complex.
But is there any kernel of truth to the NLN being demonstrably stronger out of the two regional leagues?
*and any/all other northern exiles 👍🏻

The negativity is a northern thing. "You can tell a Yorkshire man, but you can't tell him much" etc.....
They regularly get 4500 people turning up wanting them to succeed, a problem we can only dream of!

I tend to watch step 5 or 6 up here and certainly they are of better standard than the same level down South; above that, I'm not sure

I know you were all waiting with baited breath for this one and everyone likes a good old fashioned happy ending so........... Despite not winning in their first 27 games Tow Law avoided the drop to Northern League Div 2 19 Tow Law Town 38 4 1 33 32 159 -127 13 20 Sunderland RCA 36 1 1 34 27 158 -131 4 Only one club down, RCA's only win was against, you guessed it, Tow Law
