At this stage of the season, there is absolutely no point in obsessing over our deficiencies. Now is the time to focus on our strengths. The interim coaching team may choose to do that, but we don't have to blow smoke up anyone's derriere. This ain't no 'see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil' love-in. This is an independent fooball fans forum, and deficiencies, especially one's so glaringly obvious as ours, should always be very much on the menu. And what stage of the season is this exactly? There are six games left and we have gained just 4 points from the last six games, 4/18!. At this rate we'll be lucky to finish in the top ten. This season has shot its bolt... now is precisely the time to start discussing how we improve things for next season. The sooner the better. This long quiet "process" to appoint a new broom hasn't exactly helped us. Had a new appointment been made within the not unreasonable time frame of three weeks we could've been starring on TV yesterday in game one the new regime. New vim, new vigour, players eager to make an impression... with a play-off campaign to reinvigorate ππ» That's where "strengths" come out, not fans on the Internet collectively putting aside their legitimate concerns and instead trying desperately to drum up some positives from this dreadful run of form.

Well done to the club yesterday for making it a brilliant day for the cameras. I thought we played very well and put a shift in despite the result. It was great to see the Worthing Legends from yesteryear and the new stand looked good.
I'm for one bored of talking about our frailties defensively . We all know it's a issue and so does the management. It is quite clear to me that it's budget and availability of players are real factors here. I just want to get behind the team the last few games to push for a play off place.
I fully expect the new management when appointed will bring in a different style of play.

Sorry, that's been a good couple of weeks in the making that outburst, its off my chest now and it feels marvellous π Onto more positive things... away from the football π I really wasn't sure how the crowd would go so was pleasantly surprised by the numbers. Bath brought more than I thought would bother for a TV game on a Sunday, and from chatting to a few strange faces it seems a lot of neutrals were in attendance (they loved the shall we say 'open' nature of the game). The new stand looked/sounded good from a distance, especially when full. Second half called to mind more of a queue waiting down the side of an out of town cash & carry π€ I've seen images of the rake and quite thin steps. I'd be interested to hear the thoughts of those who used it. Was it OK? Unless I missed something no village idiots crawled out of the woodwork to spoil our day, so that was good. I'm going to zip through the recording now, to see how we came over (avoiding the 90 minutes of football of course). A lot of positives from the TV coverage yesterday. The sun was out, the ground looked good, there was a large crowd and the TV pundits sounded genuinely surprised at how good our football was...maybe it will have changed the minds of some watching managers who wouldn't have applied for the job but will do now that they have seen the potential here? Regarding village idiots, there was the fellow in the first half who appeared at the front of the west stand with an England flag and started dancing to his own music. And there was a quick burst of an anti-Papist song in the second half, as though it was Bonfire Night in Lewes. Nothing too serious, though. And in one of your other posts, did you mean " fur coat and no knickers"? Fir coat sounds a bit masochistic...

π€£ doh!
There are lots of positives around the club Paul, far more than there are negatives. Its just on the pitch at this present time I can't wilfully ignore the elephant in the room.

The appearance of the 1980s legends ties in nicely with our current comments about the goals conceded and having to score 3 or 4 every week to win; then we had Micky Edmonds, now we have Ollie Pearce. The first season in the Isthmian Premier ended with us scoring 89, by far the best in the league, and conceding 72 - only one club in the division conceded more. And that was with some solid defenders in the side, such as Geoff Raynsford and Bruce Aitken!

I have watched the TV coverage again this morning as I recorded it and I think the whole club comes across really well, if we were putting ourselves in the shop window for prospective managers then we did a great job as has been mentioned.
I think it feels like that there is a feeling that a 6ft 5 slabhead of a center back would solve our problems, which to a small extent yes okay that may help, but we can't just go and put a man mountain in the back line who then can't fit our style of play, square peg meets round hole and all.
I think the argument about getting a new permanent manager in now isn't crucial, yes this season has faded but it's been a long one, with great upheaval at short notice, but it isn't over!! As was pointed out to me, in the summer more faces will become available and with that possibly a better suited candidate? Personally I feel once summer comes then yes we should step it up and get a new face in ASAP, but for now let's enjoy the ride, enjoy the last 6 games and trust those to make the right decision in the summer!

And he fits in with how Adam wants to play. If that move doesnβt happen I will be surprised.
