I'm really think we need some serious recruitment in the defensive area. We are totally devoid of any physicality. The way we play would be fine if we have some more recognised defenders .
I take nothing away from Kane, Joel and the two Joes they have done brillant with what they can but we need a strong defensive leader who is vocal and can put himself around a bit.

Entertaining game, disappointing result, but no team is going to win every game. However, totally confused by some of the comments with regards to Rocco being given a rest, particularly when he has taken so much criticism on here. Rocco has played every single game this season regardless of its priority so is probably deserving of a break both physically and mentally. Plus, I still can't quite get my head around the consistent complaints about the the style of playing from the back that has been the same ever since Adam was appointed. The same style that has brought us so much success over the recent seasons. I guess I am either easily pleased, or some people are never pleased regardless of the incredible progress the club has made both on and off the pitch. You make a lot of fair comment and our football is so easy on the eye BUT we are being found out as we progress up to playing better teams who are organised enough to know how to nullify us. Keep playing the way we are is fine but only when we are further up the pitch not in or around our own eighteen yard box. The same style worked well in the isthmian but a few tweaks are needed as to now make it a success at Nat South level. A game of this importance was NOT the time to give Rocco a rest.

But our system of play, the "Worthing Way", the "Adam Way" clearly does work. We are still in the top four, as we where last season and the football is great to watch. What's not to like. A gate of 1700 plus again, a few years ago we would have been ecstatic with 500. Please get real.

I take nothing away from Kane, Joel and the two Joes they have done brillant with what they can but we need a strong defensive leader who is vocal and can put himself around a bit. And this is the problem I find with the defensive situation. The now established back four have all, to a man, been excellent. Can you honestly say either of those four deserve to be dropped? Joe Rye is a class above, Joel although for me more suited to a right wing back role has been excellent, Kane has been a revelation as a full-back and Joe Felix is a wonderful player. Not just on paper but on what we see in front of us who do you push out, they're there on merit. Yesterday Kane was getting done for pace by their excellent #7, its why at half time he and Joe Felix swapped sides at half time. But apart from that I thought all four had a good game. I have to conclude, personally, that its really not the personnel, it has to be the system itself that causes our goals against column to bulge. But here's where I sit on the fence a bit because I also have sympathy with Tony H's viewpoint too. The system, that frustrates us all at times, is also the thing that causes our goals for column to bulge too. Play differently at the back and we'll kill the goose that lays the golden eggs. I really don't care for the phrase 'get real' though, everyone has their own opinion and to each of us our own opinion IS real, IS genuine and IS valid. For me, if I can even begin to attempt to find some middle ground here, I have learnt to live with and accept the way we play at the back. If I had any hair left to pull out, at times I'd be pulling it out like the best of us. But its the ying to the yang that makes us the league top scorers and it really is binary thinking to believe if we went 'conventional' there wouldn't be an equal and opposite reaction at the other end. I've learned to love the drama as a whole and accept this terrifying at times defensive play for the way it CAN break the lines and give us space up top to attack. That's a lot of words to try and explain a middle ground view between the polar opposite views expressed on this thread of 'rip it up and start again' and/or 'get real'. But I felt it necessary because both ends of the spectrum are actually right. It is terrifyingly shambolic at times but we do have to come to terms with the fact that under Adam Hinshelwood it will never change. So both views are effectively valid, its how we deal with the situation we have that has to change, not the system itself. We just have to accept it, we have no choice or we're just going to get angry with it each week... while each week being served up very entertaining football... well I can certainly live with that. Coming back to defensive reinforcements, we desperately need quality cover, we have all season long even before Aarran/Glen Rea. But we need it because if any of these four fall over, get a move up the pyramid or get suspended we are beyond bare bones, especially in the middle two positions. But fit, healthy and playing as they have been, Kane, Joel and the Joes keep their shirts for me, there really is no case to drop anyone. And yes, I'll add 'post wobble' Roco to that too. We are what we are, we play how we play, and in truth no-one is playing badly.

Someone should have told Worthing Christmas was over . Gave them a start with two gifts wrapped goals (Keeperat fault with the second ) (sorry ) Cuntinue to play tipsy tapy nonsense at the back and expect to get away with it . Thought we had enough fire power upfront to destroy their shaky looking defence second half . Not sure why Hinch changed things. Thought their 7 was excellent the rest not so much . 😷😷😷 Perfect summing up sir, we really are shooting ourselves in the foot with this ridiculous kamikaze football at the back, Ollie and Joe were making numerous runs forward to find the ball being played backwards safe football. What the hell has Roco done wrong recently to bring in an inferior goalkeeper who doesn’t know our system is to me crazy. Still waiting for Luque and Leur to produce any threat to the opponents goal, Nicky and Ollie should be a no brainer as regulars when fit. Much better second half, playing some excellent football in more advanced positions,,,,, BUT for Christ sake Adam stop this needless playing penalty area football it’s killing our results. I wasn’t at the game so I can’t judge players. But to say that the gk on loan doesn’t know our system of play is not correct in my opinion. He comes from Southampton that play exactly the same way as Worthing do. Play the ball out from the back. I was at their game yesterday and at times I thought I was watching Worthing play. Some very scary moments at the back playing out. And have seen that several times this season with Southampton. And the system applies to all teams not just the first team , same as Worthing. I think one of the reasons Adam got him on loan is that he is used playing the same system. And didn’t Adam say that he is of the same pedigree of Carl Rushworth? Well that is enough for me as I think he was one of the best if not the best goal keeper I have seen in a Worthing shirt. Just to clarify I am not a Saints fan but my son is. Hence I have seen them play on several occasions.

He was very comfortable with the system Dutchboy, that was clear to see yesterday.
I'm not doubting his ability. He spooned a save out to their player for their second goal same as Roco was doing but looked perfectly sound with the way we play.
My eyebrow was raised simply in support of a young player who worked his way through a wobbly patch but then got dropped anyway.

But hopefully Adam has explained to Rocco the reasons behind the new gk playing. And Rocco sees this as a challenge and get his place back. But wasn’t there a rumour that Rocco carried an injury?

I for one wouldn't change our style of play.
It entertaining gets us goals , has put us in a great position in the league, pulls in good crowds and complements from fellow clubs and their supporters.
Whats the alternative? We become a hoof ball side and I certainly don't want that.
Yes it's frustrating that it doesn't always click but most of the time it does.

It was bugging me this morning. So running with the angle Hinsh was using to try and squeeze more money out for players... 'we finished with three academy players in front of a gate of over 1,700, I know the budget is used up but..." ...I thought I'd check out our current average. NLS Average home crowds - LinkWe are currently just 24 paying customers over our break even figure. Its a bit disingenuous therefore to suggest George and Barry are sitting on some sort of cash windfall that isn't being shared out 🤨 Also, wow, I knew Truro's gates would be low playing as they are in Devon but spare a thought for how well they're doing at the moment off gates averaging just 242 👏🏻

Maybe there would be a concern if we were the only club that played this way, but watch the highlights from yesterday's FA Cup matches and see how many teams conceded goals by giving the ball away when trying to play out from the back; Brighton and Sunderland immediately come to mind, but there were others (and several near misses). Regarding how other clubs see us, listen to the Chelmsford manager www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bfx6O2otDvA&pp=ygULd29ydGhpbmcgZmM%3D - he's just the latest to make similar comments. As much as we are nervous that one mistake when playing the way we do will cost us a goal, the opposition are equally nervous that if they make a mistake in trying to stop us playing this way it will cost them a goal - as in our first goal yesterday.

I completely agree with this. I really don't think there is anything to be negative about to be honest. It is all a learning curve. I'm just glad that it seems to be working for us and imo there has been a marked improvement in player attitude the last few games. It is clear to me that Hinsh got the whole squad together and talked it out.

Last season we were top (bottom?) of the list for losing points after taking the lead.
This season we have taken the lead in 14 of our 26 league matches and ended up winning 12, drawing one and losing one (Dartford). Conversely, when conceding first (in the other 12 league matches), we have won 1 (Chippenham), drawn 3 and lost 8.
Not sure whether to file this under good or bad news...

Maybe that can be put down to our mentality. When our tails are up they stay up, when our tails are between our legs we 'give up'. You can add all the away '4 goal games' into that last category, the chips are down so the tools go down.

Yesterday for example we went 2-0 down our heads didn't drop and we got ourselves back into it.
