Away again, but a lot closer to home...

Last season we won the home game but lost this one. After five straight wins going into it we were one up and seemingly in pretty good control at half time. Something was put in their tea though because in the second half they came out all guns blazing...

We faced them again in this season's opener leaving it very late to win 1-0.
Angels struggled a bit in the first few months of the season but have improved. They didn't trouble the top half of the table until match 19 and since then they've been hovering within striking distance of the play-offs yo-yo-ing between 8th and 11th... where they find themselves now on 38 points from 28 games. H&B's frozen pitch last night prevented them taking back second place so we go into this game still second (46/27).

Form wise its the 13th best side hosting the 4th best side over the last six games. Our away form also sees us in 4th place with 10 points from the 18 most recently available points on the road. However on home form alone Angels rise to the 6th best in the league with 12/18. Indeed they are unbeaten at Longmead since way back in early September!! Most recently there seems to be a pattern emerging, the lower teams are beaten (Havant, Dartford and Weymouth) the higher ones come away with a point (Chelmsford, Hampton, Aveley, Maidstone).

We will therefore have done very well if we come away with a win on Saturday. But going into the Truro game we'd have said the same, indeed their prior record was better than Angels. If we can post a performance like Saturday again then form matters not, we were unplayable second half. But therein lies the rub, can we maintain a consistency of performance, something we've found difficulty achieving this season. This is about 20% of the travelling time of last week though and they won't be playing on a bog, so that goes in our favour.
That leads on nicely to the squad situation. With Nicky and Luque still away (I believe?) the squad is pretty much 'as you were'... which means surely to goodness the starting X1 will do so too?
All Saturday games...
Aveley v Chippenham Town
Bath City v Dartford
Braintree Town v Taunton Town
Farnborough v Chelmsford City
Hampton & Richmond Borough v Eastbourne Borough
Havant & Waterlooville v Weston-super-Mare
Slough Town v Maidstone United
Tonbridge Angels v Worthing
Torquay United v Dover Athletic
Welling United v Truro City
Weymouth v St Albans City
Yeovil Town v Hemel Hempstead Town
No green this week as only Yeovil are (out of sight) above us but you'll notice the amount of red is much reduced. With two home games coming up after this one now would be the perfect time to lay down a bit of a run and pull the rope ladder up behind us.
Its one of our closest away games so if you can it could be well worth your effort to get up and cheer the lads on. Tidy ground, good parking and, we hope, the chance to see a repeat of 'Operation Sexy Worthing'.
Safe travel to all heading up and come on you Rebels!
