That Chima signing was bizzare!! I liked Bailey Smith for his pace and direct approach but wasn't used enough so understand why that hasn't been extended!
We now need some defensive reinforcements as we are light, and I'm sure Adam will be working on other options!
We are doing well and in a good position in the league, but am I the only one who feels some of the recruitment has been a little scattergun for this half of the season?

And I guess that Southampton have been told that Jeffries will def get game time; where does that leave Roco after his recent upturn in form?

A few thoughts...
There were a few stinkers last season too in terms of signings and maybe Luer and Klass are now showing us what they are really capable of rather than glimpses? It's probably better for Udoka to go sooner rather than later if he wasn't up to it/we weren't a good fit for him rather than persevere for too long which perhaps we did with certain players last season? Bailey definitely had something, looking forward to see him develop at the Albion Maybe Rocco's uplift in form is BECAUSE of the competition?
It hasn't always felt like it but we're doing really well given we lost a top class goalkeeper in Harrison Male pre-season and won't see Aarran Racine for a long time, if ever again on the pitch. Two HUGE players.
Hopefully with some £££ now freed up, we can look at bringing in a dominant central defender (or 2) and a left back. Being able to move Joel back to RB and Kane into CM will be like two new signings. We've really missed Joel's assists and goals and Kane's energy and bite in the middle

Meanwhile, Mo Jammeh (remember him) continues his grand tour of West Sussex non-league clubs - Worthing, Littlehampton, Lancing, Bognor, Burgess Hill, and now he's at Chichester.

But the overarching reason for them must be, as you say, to free up budgetary space for squad reinforcement on the downhill stretch of the season. On the keeper situation I absolutely loathe loans with 'must play' clauses, I really hope we haven't got saddled with one of those because clubs should pick on merit and nothing else. Roco had a wobbly spell but what's the point of sticking by him as he worked through it, only to bench him once he has? Roco should start against Chelmsford, he's done nothing, recently, to merit being dropped. Bailey has lost out to Luer's performances on the right wing recently which have been passable to half decent. It's not a quality young players should really aspire to but he'll stick in my mind as probably the best diver 'free kick/penalty winner' I've ever seen... three penalties and umpteen free kicks in advanced positions. I guess that's what they're teaching them in Premier League 2. The wording in the Chima reference seems to suggest he was only available for December? Well that certainly wasn't mentioned when he signed, he was a free agent. It just seems a bit convenient to suggest retrospectively it was a one month deal and 'ah shucks, he was injured, what can we do'. I wonder if, a bit like the big lad we trialed in the summer (from Cheshunt?), he couldn't get comfortable with our style of play. Big units don't, as a highly generalistic rule, play the short stuff all that well. He was always sat up in the stands with all the other non playing squad members right up to the point he was actually needed in battle, the game after Glen Rea 'took a break'... and yet he disappeared that very day. And what's the story with Jessie? He was always up in the stands too when injured, but we haven't seen him for weeks either. Has he been culled too.

Very odd the business with Chima. But I still think the recruitment is a step up on last season. There's still a fair amount of duds but the good ones have been really impactful, beats some of the dross that turned out at the beginning of last year.

I have been critical of both Rees and Leur for the majority of the season. But Rocco played well the least few weeks. So not sure how this is all going to work with the second keeper. Yes I alway have said we need a really good back for various reasons. But I really hope we do not get a situation like Arsenal with their goalkeepers. But that posistion was the only one where we didn’t have cover really. So for that reason it makes sense I thought Leur showed a massive improvement against Eastbourne. He showed he can be good addition to the squad. Maybe we should tell him we play Eastbourne every week. Before the game I spoke with a few of their supporters who were hoping they would lose so the manager would get the sack. They got their wish. But they were also very quick to say no to my question if they wanted Leur back.

I don't think there is such a thing as a "must play" clause in a loan. By definition, if you didn't want to play that player, you wouldn't have loaned them in unless there is a set of circumstances clearly stated at the outset (like "need a back up keeper"). We've seen with Fish, Vincent, Woodhouse and Smith that if you aren't good enough then you don't play, regardless of whether you are a loanee or not.
I think Adam has taken a balanced look at the goalkeeping position over the whole of this season (not two clean sheets against an impotent team) and made a judgement on whether we've been served well in this position by the half way point, and if we are to do better, how we might achieve that.
Chima was probably told he had a month with us (possibly a bit like Adeyemi) with the conclusion reached that it wasn't working out. Nothing lost, nothing gained.
As for Jesse, that's a good question. I know he had an injury but whether that's still the case, I don't know. A non match-fit Jesse isn't going to get in ahead of Odei, a fully firing Klass or possibly the best of all our new signings, Joe Felix. It's a shame he's not playing regularly as he's an absolute Rolls Royce of a midfielder.

Jack Paxman has left Eastbourne. Wants to spend more time with his family and go back to part time football. To be honest he looked a shadow of himself when I saw him the last 2 games. Not going to lie love to see him at our club but not sure if that will happen.

Shame for Paxman as he was excellent for us last year. Not sure coming back is best though. We are building up a few who have had knockbacks in the past (injury or being dropped) and it's only just starting to click for some. Jake being an exception, Klass, Cashman and Roco all got released and Luque is still building back. Add Rea to that and the cost outweighs the benefits for me. All have a way to go to their best and a new 'project' might upset the apple cart.
As for Leur, lots of positive comments about improvements which are deserved, but really, what has he done to be NLS playoff level?! It's January! Luque has scored goals and got assists, Bailey was a constant threat on the wing, Roco has won us/saved games, Cash has banged some in and so on. What has Greg contributed? Is it enough return for the investment? What is his potential? How long might we have to wait?

Paxman has signed for Ramsgate, left a sinking ship and joined one full of plunder... part time football but probably on the same £1000 a week he was rumored to be on at Borough!! Appears to follow the £££ signs which I can't blame him for, but hardly the best footballing experiences, no?
