It appears that Worthing have taken Arron Hopkinson on loan from Merstham for the next month, he has not been a regular in the Merstham team in recent times.
Having already played for Merstham in the competition he will not be able to play for us in the FA Trophy; he has been an unused substitutes in a League Cup tie so without checking the rules it is not clear if he is also cup tied in that competition however our club better be 100% sure that he is not should we wish to utilise his service against Burgess Hill just before Xmas.

I see Bognor have loaned two more players from Brighton thats 8 yes 8 on loan. surely there is a limit ? or is there ? There is a limit in the professional leagues, I don't think there is much in the way of quotas at this level. I wonder what the regular Bognor supporters make of having a team full of players that they cannot relate to and can take no credit for any false success that may come their way at the end of the season. If they do end up winning the league, should the trophy then really be displayed in the Brighton & Hove Albion trophy cabinet? I am glad we have a team full of players who have grown up playing with Worthing FC in their hearts and have such a close bond with the supporters. Is it any wonder why our supporters, win, lose or draw, are the loudest and proudest in this division? People who know me will know that the loan system is my biggest gripe with the game. Instead of tinkering about with the rules on the pitch, I would dearly love to see the FA scrap the loan system completely. My problem with it is that it is killing the development of younger players, ironically, it is supposed to be the main reason for it existing. A complete oxymoron in my mind. Scrapping it would stop the likes of Chelsea having 150 players on their books, with a 100 out on loan just to stop other clubs from having them in case they turn out to be the next superstar. It would give more English players the chance to play at a better standard as there would not be 1000's of foreign youngsters filling up the big teams academies as there would be fewer spaces available for them - would they be so quick to come over in their droves to join academies from championship/league 1/league 2 clubs instead? Younger players would end up joining academies or first teams at a more suitable level as they would want to play regularly and clubs would not waste time having excessive numbers. As more youngsters filter down the levels, the standard of the grassroots game would naturally improve, hopefully leading to an increase in interest in local football and the lowest level leagues could benefit by not losing so many clubs. Yes, it proved very beneficial at the end of last season with Jordan Maguire-Drew joining, but that was the exception rather than the rule and probably would not have even come about had Lloyd not been injured for the last few weeks of the season.

As an avid Rocks fan I can only name four Cadman Barnett Tighe Davies And the middle two only signed yesterday. BTW - congratulations on your trophy run, it's great to see another Sussex club doing well. Good luck vs Sutton.

Cadman has returned to Brighton, so we only have 3 players on loan, 2 of which signed this week. The other player Calvin Davies was with us most of last season so is in his 2nd season with the club. Amazing how facts get twisted!!! Like Ian said good luck in the trophy we had a great time last season.

It's definitely not 8 but Bognor have about 3 or 4 loanees at any one time (I think they had a striker called Byrne for a bit too earlier in the year?) which is well within the rules but not something personally I'd be keen on. However, it does demonstrate quite how hard player recruitment is in this division. The increased travelling puts off many Div 1 South and County League players, while Conference South players are generally reluctant to drop status and £££. Add to this the fact that both clubs are geographically disadvantaged with half our catchment area being underwater, and Sussex hardly being a hotbed of ambition, and its clear to see the problems both management teams have when trying to bring players in. Makes you appreciate what an exceptional group we have at Worthing, and all the more remarkable that with the exception of Arron Hopkinson (borrowed from Merstham) - all are 100% WFC players.

There are in depth rules and regulations relating to loan players, with regards to actual limits on the number of loans allowed the following restrictions apply based on the Isthmian League Handbook (the specific rules referenced are noted in brackets at the end of a bullet point below):
- A club may register any number of Work Experience players but only two may play in any one match. (6.4.7) - A clubs can name up to five players on the team sheet who are either Short Term Loan, Long Term Loan, Youth Loan or Work Experience. (6.4.8) - No more than four players (Short Term Loan, Long Term Loan or Youth Loan) may join one club from another club in any playing season. (6.6.1) - A club can have up to a maximum of twelve Short Term Loans during a playing season. (6.6.2) - The Competition (in our case the Isthmian League) shall not approve more than two Short Term Loan transfers to or from any one club, including Premier League and Football League Clubs, at any one time. (6.6.2) - Clubs may have up to a maximum of six Long Term Loan transfers of any age during a playing season. (6.6.3) - The Competition (in our case the Isthmian League) shall not approve more than two Long Term Loan transfers to or from any one club, including Premier League and Football League Clubs, at any one time. (6.6.3)
Relating this to what has already mentioned as things stand at the moment a club (such as Bognor Regis Town) can take a maximum total of four players of any type of loan from any single club (such as Brighton & Hove Albion) in any single playing season (such as 2016-17).

Heljag I wouldn't say we think youth is the best way forward. I believe its cheaper. If it was cheaper to have ex pros we would no doubt go down that route. I understand we have a budget and its good to stick to that plan, but in some games against big rough opposition our total football falls short. If we keep this group of players together for another couple of seasons they'll improve remarkably. The test will come when someone offers them upwards of 500 notes a week. We have some players that could earn that in this league in my opinion.
