My first sight of some of the new guys last night, thought Joe Tennent looked very composed and a good leader, and the trialist Marvin in the second half also looked lively and kept the ball ticking over nicely - a useful upgrade in midfield IMO.......

Carl Rushworth, who apparently will be loaned to us from Brighton for the forthcoming season, played last night in goal for 78 minutes in a Brighton XI at Hastings.

Herald piece on Tutty and Marvin - Link - including some quotes from Hinch that I'd not seen elsewhere. Apparently Marvin 'doesn't suit our style of play'. The devils advocate response would be 'then why sign him' but I'm very glad we have. Of the times I've seen him he was most effective sitting infront of the defence where Ricky Aguiar usually sits. He is a very different player to Ricky admittedly but is stronger and more disruptive, I hope he isn't just used as a substitute to 'hold' games we're winning because the defence needs him from minute one. Talking of Ricky I've not heard any talk of trials elsewhere and he hasn't featured pre season, can I assume he's injured? |

I have a good friend who lives in Yorkshire, who tells me Carl Rushworth is an amazing goalkeeper. He has seen him play up there and reckons he was one of the best in the league and won't disappoint.
