There's an old military saying, "Perfect Preparation Prevents Piss Poor Performance" and "Fail to prepare, prepare to fail" also springs to mind.
The Isth League committee obviously decided to ignore both of these adages by doing absolutely rockall over the summer; they really really couldn't organise the proverbial in a brewery (but I bet they could get themselves to a free feed in a hurry).
It's not the indecision today that so riles me, it's the oh so predictable cock ups on the way to it.
Apologies for the language but it is so much less sweary than I would like to post

Don't apologise Kenty, it's 'kin frustrating.
It seems my theory about the proposal failing to win the vote but being inacted anyway is shared by this chairman too...
RIP 2020/21.
Here lies a properly concluded season ☠

That Bracknell statement is very well put.
The league officials maybe could merit some slack with their decisions when this virus appeared but since then they have demonstrated no clear leadership skills whatsoever.
They have had since March to talk to clubs and come up with a definitive way forward if seasons cannot be completed for whatever decision rather than rely on the null and void method. Instead they have buried their heads in the sand and ploughed on regardless with attempting to play out a 42 game season in the middle of a pandemic. No mention of split divisions, reduced fixtures or PPG stipulations before the season kicked off means that it will be extremely difficult to implement them now the season has began. Why are County cups, Vase and Trophy being played when last seasons competitions didn't complete!? The whole sorry debacle is shambolic and sadly some clubs may not make it and many fans will lose interest knowing that they could ultimately be spending money watching glorified friendlies before another null and void kicks in. I was expecting a statement that said football will resume in the new year with a clear path forward towards how a finalised league table would be decided. Instead we have a statement that alludes to a majority, however small, wanting to play on but the league officials themselves wanting a pause. Apparently we could be waiting for some confirmation from the FA but seeing as they have been of little use to non elite clubs during this pandemic I doubt it will amount to anything positive.

Well they came to the outcome that I expected them to come to.. but that statement is shambolic. Firstly, we need to know the result of the vote with the amounts of votes cast for and against. If the result is that the majority of clubs want to start playing again we need to start playing, there is not a point in getting clubs to vote if when you don't like the result, you just ignore it. The contempt that the clubs and fans are held in with that statement is staggering. I'd hope that the further statement has the roadmap to getting games back underway, but if previous track record is anything to go by, I highly doubt that it will be.
It was always going to be difficult for the league with the changing situation and the constant moving of the goalposts by the government on what clubs can and can't do. However, the idea of entering a season as if it was a normal year, where the world is anything but, was always going to lead to this joke of a situation. I would hope that there were discussions about a season with less games and less travel, they had a good 6 months to discuss it. We urgently need a plan on how to finish the season because before long we will have lost another season to Covid, a season which could have and still could be finished if we have a plan.

Collins English dictionary :- Substantial, "of considerable size or value"
Majority, "greater number"
I, like WSIR, suspect that the use of English by the board is very precise to avoid admission that the clubs and fans have been shat on once again

The plan is simple . Wait wait wait and wait some more . Then when it is impossible to complete the season ( something common sense told us would happen ) the suits will sit back and declare NULL and VOID .

A fair and sensible statement from Lewes FC in my opinion.

I'm not so sure WWR. What do we gain by following clubs, who through no fault of their own, into oblivion? Sure I want all clubs to survive but to join in some suicide pact by declining to play until all Isth clubs are in T2 may be morally great but what happens if Essex goes up to T3 while Kent goes down to T2?

Would our view be the same if Sussex was in tier 3??
Surely we could just furlough our players and staff rather than plodding on through December playing pointless friendlies.
Only slightly positive note on our part is the fact that we have so many home fixtures left to be me when hopefully clubhouses will be open and maybe capacities will be increased. Just watch the league announce a different league fixture set up from January!?
It's a rubbish situation that has been appallingly mismanaged by our government nationally and the leagues locally.
21 game season should have been the plan for 20/21 to take into account any lockdown, self isolations etc before the start.
To be honest I'm getting to the stage where I'm past caring now and my interest in the Isthmian League season 20/21 is waning rapidly.

A review date is mentioned in the Southern League statement that wasn't included on the Isthmian League one.

It's a bit like the old joke of being asked "How do I get to ......." the reply being, "well if I was you I wouldn't start from here"
Agree with you re the interest WWR. Unless there is (by some miracle) a firm plan by the 16th of Dec who is going to pay their hard earned for what may well turn out to be a statistic in another null and void?
I must of course declare a vested interest having said in the summer that we could have just taken a year out and restarted last season in Feb. Sadly it gives me no pleasure at all to be proved right at such a time of loss and tragedy for so many, be they bereaved, have long Covid, or as in the case for many friends, have life changing financial issues.

The morning after the night before often brings a different perspective... but not today. It still makes no sense and I still can't see how and when football can restart having taken that stance.
Credit to Lewes because THAT is how to do a statement. Now I may fundamentally disagree with the decision they took and I find their logic totally flawed... but THAT'S how you explain your thought process to your constituent fanbase.
I still remain brim full of cynicism about the motivations for a club that finds itself in 18th place here. If they were in the top five I bet their stance on 'fairness' would be a darn sight less woolly and liberal and a lot more focused on a potential lost promotion. Having a season written off as null and void when you know the best you can hope for otherwise is surviving a relegation battle is an advantage, not an impediment.
So fair play Lewes for at least showing the league how to explain actions and have a plan of action, even if I can still see through the bullsh1t.
Their statement describes their stance now as being in 'hibernation'. That's an appropriate word. League and FA officials have been packed away in boxes like the wrinkly old tortoises they are since March.
My mood isn't going to get any better writing about it so I should probably get out and face the day. So a final word though for our players and management this morning...
Being top and going great guns in the league they must be champing at the bit to get restarted. Their level of disappointment must surpass even the fans frustration.
Well keep your chins up lads, the whole world it seems is conspiring against allowing you a fair crack at a glorious promotion on your CV's. Well one day soon the crusty old farts that run football will run out of excuses for denying you the chance to fulfil your destiny.
So please hang in there and keep that hunger for success burning, don't let your legacy be to have been the greatest generation of players never to have won anything. When the f*ckwits that run the game finally pull their fingers out and organise a p155 up in their brewery we want you to hit the ground running and take this league 😎

Well I did get out and I did face the day but one word kept rolling round my head as I stomped round our pier (of the year!). Probably because I binge watched 'The Thick Of It' earlier in lockdown Malcolm Tucker's gift to the English language sums up the Leagues performance (or lack of) this season. From the way 2019/20 was ended, through the decision to keep all the pointless cups this season, via the complete failure to plot an agreed course through to resolution for 2020/21 to yesterdays complete and utter fudge of a response to restarting this season, I give you... Oh My, Northern Isthmian & Southern Hierarchies Actually Make Brexit Look Expertly Sorted

Read today that the naitional leagues had declared at the start of their season that null and void would only happen if 50% of fixtures weren't completed .PPG would apply if over 50% had been played . . Why are the trident leagues not on the same page
