The "Luke Robinson" look alike was just that, a look alike. I like many others where fooled by this until I was told by Luke himself who was standing right next to me the entire first half !!! The look alike is in fact "a trialist" who according to the real Luke, who he (Luke) believes played for Hungerford Town in the NLS last season. Confused??? I certainly was, not entirely sure I'm still not. Anyway, hope that's cleared that up.

The 'Luke Robinson situation' was beyond weird. Three trialists were supposed to be in the '1st half XI' according to Twitter, numbers 2,12 and 18... only there wasn't an 18 playing... but there was a number 11 that wasn't on the list. OK, I can see what's happened here I thought, the trialist was a no-show or late withdrawal so Luke has just taken his place. Simples. But then I sensed that he wasn't being called 'Luke' or 'Robbo'. I couldn't make out what he was being called but it didn't seem right. So I even called up Luke's 'pen pic' on my phone just to make 100% sure... OK I thought, he's clearly being called by a nickname because that's definately him! However then the second half X1 came up... this time with a trialist numbered 11.. and it was the same guy!! All I can say is that Luke has the mother, father, sister and brother of all doppelgangers. But enough of that, it just weirded me out Whoever he was, I though he looked good, certainly strong and committed and with a good touch, the best of the bunch for me. Saying that I though 2 and 12 in the first half and 17 in the second half did nothing to merit the door, certainly worthy of another look. First look at Lewis White in our colours, I think he'll be a fan favorite, very fast and direct and loves to get into the box. Wills was assured and unhurried by the opposition, all very calm and collected and Jake Robinson looked very bright too. He linked up really well with Ollie, definite early glimpses of some real telepathy there. The game itself was what it was, a training session on steroids. Much better performances to come i'm sure. No cause for panic of course, i'm sure there are good reasons and they're not all crocked or have moved on, but it was also worth observing who wasn't out there last night... Cal, Barks, Jessie, Joel, JB, Aarran, Adam El Abd, Pat Webber and of course 'the real Luke Robinson'... to name but nine!

Don't feel bad. I was standing behind the goal and EVERYONE thought it was Luke Robinson π

Two for the price of one as they're back to back... Brighton & Hove Albion X1 v WFC (Friday 17:30) Match Centre - LinkThis was the opening pre-season friendly last season, a 1-0 defeat played, as this is, behind closed doors... BHA v WFC (9/7/21) - Match ReportWe of course met in the SSCC final and we all know what an enjoyable night that was... for all the Sussex FA dignitaries but virtually no-one else. Far be it for me to suggest Albion displayed an inability to organise a 'wet event' in a brewery that night... but maybe being unable to attend as fans these last two years could perhaps be a blessing in disguise π€ Spotters badge for whoever reports the first sighting of news that it will actually be live streamed, there's no confirmation so far. The following link is therefore very much a provisional link, NOT a guarantee, but the game last year was streamed on BHA's You Tube page... 'My Albion' - YouTubeThe squad for this one should resemble more of the 'First half XI' for the Bridges game plus ( I bloody hope so anyway) some of the regular faces that didn't feature at all. Maybe they were rested last night so a big old can of 'whoop'ass revenge' can be opened up. Whoever is out there in Rebels red though... please please pretty please can you 'do a Tolaj'... a totally out of place and ridiculously camp 'shirts off, knee slide and kiss the biceps goal celebration in an empty ground' π€£ Selsey v WFC (Saturday 3pm) Match Centre - LinkThe weather is going to be lovely, perfect to visit a welcoming ground populated by friendly proper football people who provide simple, traditional clubhouse bar facilities. No having to give all your personal details to a website to be able to buy a ticket, no having to queue, no cavity searches before entry, no Krypton Factor self scan turnstile, no rip off prices, no limp reheated hot dogs in a sweaty bag where the sausage hasn't even been introduced to the bun yet and no seagull droppings falling from the roof. Yes people, after 'slumming it' last time on the road at 'Stalag Amex' the football may be of lower quality but everything else its sooo much better, this is a proper football ground π Selsey play in Division 1 of the County League and finished 8th in 2021/22. Last pre-season we won this fixture 0-2 with a brace from Shaq with an almost exclusively U18's team. Given how things went last night it'll probably be the same again with primarily the 'Second half XI' team from last night getting their first (heavily rotated) 90 minutes. And lets not forget that they won their half 1-0 just the same as the much more experienced first halfers so they'll still give the hosts a very good game. Come on you Rebels!

Keithsson, I could cook a kebab on your still burning and charcoal hot ire for the 'Amex experience' and modern football! I smell your smoke. Selsey is a very real experience in every way. I recommend it to anyone thinking of going.

Just to ease some concerns with regards to those players missing last night. I was there early enough (sad I know) to see Callum, Danny, Joel, Reece, JB, Adam el Abd being put through the ringer by Nathan and Buddy. Aaron Racine was also there. No Jesse though, apparently a clash between work commitments and football. No sign though at the moment of Pat Webber, holiday maybe??

We went early as well just to see what was happening. And saw the session before the match. Some of the players only just got back from holiday. Adam El-Abd hurt his calf during that session. My son was talking to Danny Barker and overheard the conversation. And Aarran told me he has a small niggle so was unable to play.
All in all the game was ok, confusing at parts with guess who is the real Luke! But first sight of the other 3 signings left a good feeling with me. Yes it was the first game but I think Kaneβs experience will be invaluable. White will be be an exciting player to watch. And Jake Robinson at front with Pearce could be a force to be reckoned with.

Wow! What a name. What a handle. If he becomes a Worthing player, then I absolutely can't wait for the AwayBoys to come up with a song about him. Find a tune to a song that fits that name! π

Was the commentary silence strategic or forgotten in the excitement? It feels a bit like Schrodinger's cat... if Worthing played a match that no-one saw or heard about, did it really happen? If it's what the club needed for pre season then fine, but it wasn't really fan friendly during a time we are trying to whip up excitement about the season ahead. YIR highlights later on perhaps?

There are plenty of other pre-season games coming up for fans to attend. The BHAFC training ground is like Fort Knox, so I wouldn't get too bothered about this game being behind closed doors. No idea on the Brighton line-up, but a 1-1 there is a decent result regardless.
