Absolutely fair comment "K". I have a different view and approach to your own. Adam has taken on a massive challenge at York and they have a very active forum for supporters to air their (mainly negative) views. My view is that after all that the man has done for Worthing FC over a prolonged period and where we are now compared to when he joined us, I don't feel that he needs any negative posts from a club that owes him so much, to feed the absolute negativity of the York City supporters. I really hope that in time they grow to enjoy the success that we have seen. I guess we will have to agree to disagree on whose views are right, if indeed there is a right or wrong. Absolutely on agreeing to disagree. There is no right or wrong, just different opinions. What you see as 'feeding/stoking/negative' I see as providing an honest personal viewpoint...in the round, so not just the good bits. Having done that though I'm leaving them well alone now. As Hinsh and Worthing was pretty much unknown to them I thought it'd help fellow fans to bring them up to speed this week. Their massive overreaction though to the inevitable struggle to showhorn a lifetime's work into York City in just two days training was quite remarkable. Proof positive that it was a bum steer to go there. If their fans can go off on one to such a degree, after one game, then there simply doesn't exist in York even close to the required patience and understanding Hinsh, Gary and Cam need to make it work. Barring a miracle I sense it will end badly, and relatively quickly.

Lewes fan in peace… delete me if you want. Worthing 3rd best team in Sussex no argument. Don’t usually post. This was always coming, good managers are always being watched, but surely he must of been approached by better clubs than York over the last couple of seasons, why do you think he chose York. I personally don’t see a huge difference between your two clubs.

There may only be a few places between us at the moment, but their infrastructure and the role is years beyond us. No-one begrudges this opportunity for him. They could be in the EFL inside 3 years imo.

There may only be a few places between us at the moment, but their infrastructure and the role is years beyond us. No-one begrudges this opportunity for him. They could be in the EFL inside 3 years imo. I think there's merit in both views expressed there. You can't argue with the infrastructure point, new ground, new(ish) owners with funds, huge potential. The key word there is undoutedly 'potential' though. But where the two clubs are now, how their two respective seasons have gone, how well you were thought of where you were to how little you are thought of where you went. The key factor here is timing, timing is the issue. Analogy time. If York (relatively) is a Ferrari to our Fiat in terms of resources and infrastructure, which it is. Then he has chosen to swap a perfectly well maintained, functional and reliable Fiat for the rusted chassis of a Ferrari. York City is a restoration project, not a road going vehicle, not ANY time soon. That's where the problem is for me, the timing of it all. York showed an interest and I'm sure it was flattering and tempting. But a gear change from top gear cruising down to first gear misfiring can only ever be painful and highly likely to blow an engine. Wherever the interest came from, everyone could surely see that for Hinshball to work it would need, at the very minimum, a pre-season and lots of role specific recruitment. You can't make a silk purse from a sows ear. Yet for all the resources and infrastructure York have their current playing staff is an equally unsuitable fabric from which to weave his magic. Wait 'till the summer and he'd have another successful year on his CV and wherever he went he'd have a summer transfer window and a whole pre-season to lay the foundations from his blueprints. Its all about the timing. Worthing to York, or an equivalent, is a no-brainer in the summer. They'll either have stayed up or gone down, but the platform would be stable from which to build on. Its either blinkered bravado or a lack of foresight not to have anticipated that. Having the courage to say "thank you, I'm flattered and very interested, but not now, not yet" would've been the braver but smarter thing to do.

They are miles ahead of where we are currently and are splashing the cash!! Apparently they have the budget of a league 1/2 club!! Can't begrudge Adam making the jump at all

Am I the only conspiracy theorist around? We turned down approaches from other clubs for Adam (admitted by WFC) and then allowed the least probable club to speak to him hoping that he would turn it down as being too far away to uproot self and family and it being at the wrong time. Only we had miscalculated and he went for it

Bognor fan and I come in peace.
Looking in from the outside,a strange move yes. But would the same have been said if he took the Dorking job for instance. You’d like to think at York,it’s actually a longer version of having the 3 there rather than if you don’t keep us up you’re gone. Iworthing as a club and you know yourselves was pretty much ripped up with a new vision, with George and whenever else behind the scenes and Adam taking over pretty much anything from the academy/youth right through to the 1st team. I’m intrigued to know how much of that he will carry on up north with York. For me reason for the big part of the early success, was getting players to make the jump from youth set ups straight into yhe 1st team with no questions asked but just praise. I wish him well as he’s a good guy of football,he maybe a rival but what he’s achieved with yourselves is nothing short of superb.

Apparently they have the budget of a league 1/2 club!! Can't begrudge Adam making the jump at allAnd his salary has been quadrupled (at least). Valid and compelling reasons all. But they would still be valid and compelling reasons in the summer too. Remember, York didn't have a vacancy at the time of their approach, they could've stuck with Neil Ardley who wasn't losing that many games but pragmatically drawing his way to staying up. Knowing what an almighty gear change shifting to his football will be, it could've been put on the back burner until the summer... "if you want me now, you'll still want me then. But I need a) clarity as to what level I'm going to b) a 💩 load of time on the training ground and c) a whole raft of ingoings/outgoings to maximise the new style... NONE of them you can give me right now". It would've been a ballsy move, but no less ballsy a move (some would say foolhardy) as believing a sinking ship could be saved by playing riskier football with players who don't know how to play it and who haven't got even 1% of the time needed to learn it. With that in mind I was delighted by what Barry said in the podcast. I saved listening to it until today so I could give it maximum attention. For precisely the same reason that parachuting a manager who plays a distinct style into a squad that doesn't is a bad move... us not recruiting a manager who plays the same or very close to how Hinsh did would be suicide. Every age group of our club from the 14's right through to the 1sts plays that way. The 'production line' from our 18's/Academy would be cut off at the knees if we brought in any other philosophy. That the board have recognised that and will appoint accordingly is fantastic. We are in good hands 👍🏻
