I think he also runs the Chelsea Foundation Academy at Thomas Bennett with Brannon O'Neill. If worthingwire thinks he's a serious candidate then he's a serious candidate! Just bits and bobs that I've heard A jibe often levelled at managers whom supporters aren't enamoured of is "PE teacher" (cf lots of York fans at Hinsh before they started winning). This guy literally was (maybe still is) a PE teacher. Lancing are doing pretty well this season, but on the face of it, it would seem a bit underwhelming if we do appoint a bloke from two steps below. Though, that said, I would prefer an up and coming manager than one who has been around the non-league block for donkey's years.

Underwhelming, yes. And it doesn't really fit with the excited sentence Barry started going down on the podcast, before he stopped himself, when asked if prospective managers had already approached the club.
But. I have a huge amount of respect for, and faith in, George and Barry. Whoever they have chosen when the 'white smoke' emerges will be the best fit... for Worthing FC 2024, with its budget and its aspirations.

I'd very much see him as someone to come in alongside and maybe be assistant/run the academy side of things, but for me right now I don't see him as the person to be first team manager but he wouldn't be a bad suggestion to come in and be a part of the project at all!

Given the apparent level of quality applicants, I still think we are looking at a biggish name, NL wise, in the summer.

Hearing a few whispers that the Lancing manager is a serious candidate. David Altendorff. Interesting. I went to Culver Road last weekend (timings didn't work for Chippenham). Going on Saturday for the Sussex Derby with Chichester too. I'll pay more attention to him this time but I certainly wasn't blown away by them against a struggling Erith & Belvedere side 🤔 Very much a standard game from two leagues below, lots of huff & puff but little quality. By comparison Chi looked much more organised and controlled on Saturday against stronger opposition.
Previously had a spell at Loxwood so possibly already on Barry's radar? And so it came to pass, my hunch was right. Lancing couldn't lay a glove on Chi who were comfortable 0-4 winners. I always love watching Little Mo Jammeh play, absolutely everywhere, a proper menace. Rebels throwback Jimmy Wild plays the traditional big man up top but the one who caught the eye the most was Isaac Bello on the left wing. Anyway as for my scouting mission on 'our man', he couldn't have have been much worse, no chance to assess his credentials. Walked about doing nothing with his hands in his pockets during the warm-up... but then Hinsh always did that... had nothing to counter at all the busy, organised, calm in possession and tigerish out of possession Chi. The final cherry on the cake came as the second half was about to kick off. I was eagerly awaiting some sort of tactical response from him after the break (0-2 down)... however he got a straight red, clearly for something he said to the officials. If he is to be involved in our future it'll be based on better days at the office than this 🤣

I heard that are few ex pro players interested in the job.
It wouldn't be surprised if it will be a ex Albion name like Hinsh. It would make sense as they will have good ties with Brighton and local scene in general.

It would make sense as they will have good ties with Brighton and local scene in general. Possibly, but not at the expense of experience... and crucially relevant experience. Being an ex-pro alone does not qualify one for NLS/NL management. They'd have to be fully badged up and fully prepared for the shock of football - but not as they know it. Glen Rea is a classic example this season... EPL to NLS is like dropping from the surface of the sea to the Marianas Trench without compression 💥 I did see something back in early March on North Stand Chat from someone claiming to be 'in the know' suggesting an Albion link. But I'd much prefer a qualified and prepared 'nobody' from the Academy set-up than a 'name' for names sake. This is a proper, serious football job, not a post career jolly.

😄
That would be preferable, at least they've earned their management chops. But even then what's good for the EFL doesn't automatically translate to our level.
The thing that concerns me about ex-pro's is the low percentage that actually turn out any good as managers. They just trade of a playing reputation until they're found out as being no good as a manager.
Increasingly in the EFL you're finding managers/head coaches who DIDN'T have a great playing career are coming to the fore, especially from abroad.
They've done the hard yards in coaching and consequently they're better prepared.

It comes down to budget also.
I hope the next boss will be given decent backing in the transfer market . I also think its going to be someone completely left field who's ideas will fit into the clubs ethos. I think there is much interest from talented managers and the club have a shortlist. I expect we will have someone in place in the summer.
I also hope Arran , Buddy and Dean will stay on for the coaching side of things as their knowledge of the club will be valuable.

Well you're not wrong there, how's this for left field 😳 I've been doing a random search online every day hoping to catch something in a wide trawl. And this appeared this morning in the gossip section of Turkish Sports paper Daily Sabah ( not an Easter bank holiday Monday there of course)... LinkIts in Turkish but my best stab at translation is that Besiktas Academy coach Farad Iylospõl has negotiated an early release from his contract to join ambitious English non league club Worthing FC, a 6th tier amateur club focused heavily on youth development. It says he's got a great record and is highly regarded but is frustrated at the lack of opportunities to step into management at the pro-level. Bloody hell 😳

That would be left field appointment and very a exciting one too ! I never thought of a manager from abroad but I suppose with the clubs profile on a high we are bound to attract interest outside the normal relms . We will be interesting to hear further developments!

With apologies Broadwater... I can't leave that hanging indefinitely.
The reason the link doesn't work is that Farad Iylospõl is an anagram of April Fools Day 😬
Had it all good to go first thing this morning but bloody Proboard decided to go down for maintenance all morning 🤦♂️... I only just got it in before midday.
Forgive me, its not big and its not clever 😔
