I've really no idea who should be the next manager but I have a absolute belief in who shouldn't be. For the latter there is no way I want Steve King, Alan Dowson or Danny Bloor anywhere near our club, nor indeed any of the usual suspects who bounce from club to club with success when it happens bought via a cheque bookWe need to have a proper process, by interview and presentation, including Aaran if he applies. Only then can the board judge who is the best person to take us forward and by what means Agreed, with the caveat that there has to be some sort of criteria for whittling down large numbers of applicants. We know from Barry's Rebel Yell Podcast interview that within a week of Hinsh leaving there had already been many enquiries, long before any advert was circulated. There's only a finite pool to draw from of course. But whilst it may not be hundreds, it could well be dozens. I'd like to think no-one would be hired without an interview/presentation. But unless the panel want to sit through dozens of the b*ggers some sort of process will have to exist to get the longlist down to a shortlist (no more than three or four). A qualities list of 'must haves' and 'must not haves' broken down into imperatives and desirables would probably do the whittling job on a points basis. But there's another crucial test. Barry has said previously he's always networking, 'bending the ear' of other chairmen and club staff at our games by making contacts by enquiring how they operate. Consequently i'd also like to think he has by now got enough trusted contacts within the game to make discreet enquiries about applicants character and suitability on a personal level... the 'no kn*bhead' policy. Candidates that may look good on paper may fall short by that test. It's a good job that the fans don't have that test, far too many of us would/have failed it on many an occasion

Very true 😄
But if we've ever done it, we've been the paying customer, not the one being paid, and probably paid quite well.
When we've ever done it, we've not been overseeing the development of human beings (not just footballers), with impressionable young minds.
When we've done it, its not been our job to generate an ethos of togetherness and team spirit so we undermine nothing but ourselves.
When we've ever done it the worst consequence is we storm off in a huff after a bad defeat and quickly get over ourselves. When you're the manager the consequences of kn*bheadery can become be a culture of bullying, intimidation and alienation.

Wasn't sure whether this was the correct thread or if it should be the NLS one, but David Noble, manager of St Albans until leaving for Wealdstone a couple of months ago, has just been sacked by Wealdstone.

Its the perfect place 👍🏻 Judging by the reaction on the St Albans message board today, even they aren't convinced he's someone they'd welcome back... Saints Chat - LinkThat said there's stuff in there about 'tippy tappy football' and a stubborn refusal to deviate from his way of playing the game that suggests he's remarkably similar to Hinsh. So maybe he would fit in here 🤔 Also in there is some suggestion linking Luke Garrard (mentioned previously) with the now vacant Wealdstone job... ..." The wheels on the managerial merry-go-round, go round and round..."

A bit left field maybe but I note that Scott Harris has been sacked by Walton & Hersham. Looks a bit odd as he has achieved 3 promotions in 3 years and they are currently 7th in Southern Prem South (step 3)

Soctt Davies has won back to back promotions…

Does nobody think that Aarran is worth a punt for a longer period?

Does nobody think that Aarran is worth a punt for a longer period? Covered my personal feelings on that in the 'new manager suggestions' thread, In summary it's a no. It'd be just that, a punt, a gamble. We might get lucky but the success rate of brand new managers isn't high, and whether we go up or not experience is going to be vital.

I personally think Arraan has now done enough! Yes okay we had a rocky start and we lost our way little but since the Bath game we have recovered superbly to put a great run together at a really crucial time!!
Yesterday I think at half time he got everything absolutely spot on, I noticed as soon as Half time came that Dyl Fage was warming up and to me he got it spot on taking Wadham off, I like Jack and think he's been amazing for us since coming in but Yesterday he didn't look at it or match fit sadly and that change gave us much more control and composure in the second half and we dominated the ball more so I take my hat off to him for the smart change when needed.
Ollie Wright was immense yesterday, if we aren't in the national league next season then he most certainly will be!!

Does nobody think that Aarran is worth a punt for a longer period? Yes, I think the existing management team have now got their feet under the desk and having overseen recovering our form I'd like for them to be made permanent. They "get" the those of the club and the "Worthing way" and I see no need to risk that being thrown away by a new team that want to head in a different direction (eg by turning to a more physical style as used by a lot of other clubs at our level).

Does nobody think that Aarran is worth a punt for a longer period? . I think he is doing a great job at the moment together with Dean and Buddy. And yes I believe everyone should be given an opportunity at some point. However I think there are a few factors that play here. 1. Aarran has got a steady day job at Worthing college. Is he willing to give that all up for the uncertainty football? 2. He just started his own fitness business. Yes ok he might be able to fit that around football. 3. He is getting married in the not so distant future. And I remember the backlash he received when he went on a family cruise for 3 weeks. Even though Adam gave his blessing. 4. If we go up do we need someone with some more experience? But in the end of that day we have to trust the board to make the right decision.

We indeed do have to trust and respect the boards decision, afterall they are the only ones who know the calibre, experience and suitability of all the applicants.
What I will say for Aarran, despite personal reservations, is he's made their decision a lot harder than it was just two or three weeks ago 😄
