Two to go to decide the final running order. So rest well centurions, for in three days we march on Verulamium...

Last season we won this fixture 0-1 with Lewis White our scorer... suspiciously though our only NLS win against them was not deemed suitable for their media to put out... churlish I feel. So instead lets enjoy a nostalgic cup game from September 2019, with us in the role of lower league underdogs. If their media team won't show us winning, let's have a game that felt like a win!

The two home games we've had since we won away last season have been those typically nuts games we throw up regularly. In 22/23 we lost 4-5 (Rodari, Pearce x2 and Lewis White again), earlier this season we came out of the craziness only slightly better off drawing 4-4 (Pearce x2, Aguiar, Wills)...

'Saints' have had a proper up and down season. They've been 3rd, 17th, 6th, 17th again before rising to a season's high of 5th just five games ago. It's been all downhill again on the rollercoaster since them though as they currently find themselves in 10th. Five points shy of the last play-off spot they still have nine points to play for. So the rollercoaster could have one last 'scream' to come... but form would suggest a snails pace crawl to the exit with the seat restraints slowly rising is the more likely outcome.

I've spoilt the form revelation already there. But just like Dartford, poor form does not equal an easy match, complacency is our enemy, professionalism is our friend.
At the time of writing (Weds & Thurs games still to play) we are now soaring on our run of four wins, up to 3rd with 13/18. Saints are 22nd with just 4/18. Their last win was a 2-0 home win against Weston exactly a month ago.
Home and away form is pretty similar. We're in 4th for away form with 12/18 on the road, they are in 18th with just 5/18 at Clarence Park. Their last three home games have all been defeats, Truro (1-2), Braintree (0-1) and Chippenham (0-1).

The numbers say we should win this, but any and all advantages need application, need pressing home. They've had their feet up in midweek so will be fresher and they surely don't want to send their fans away for the summer with all the damp fizzle of a wet firework. We must be on our guard and bring our 'A game'.
Squad wise there was some encouragement that KLF and Nicky Wheeler might be available again for this one, all will depend on Thursday's training session.
All Saturday games...
Bath City v Torquay United
Chelmsford City v Tonbridge Angels
Eastbourne Borough v Chippenham Town
Farnborough v Taunton Town
Hampton & Richmond Borough v Dover Athletic
Havant & Waterlooville v Braintree Town
Hemel Hempstead Town v Slough Town
St Albans City v Worthing
Truro City v Maidstone United
Welling United v Weymouth
Weston-super-Mare v Aveley
Yeovil Town v Dartford
It's hard to look past comfortable wins for all our challengers in the play-off ordering, which just emphasises the need for us to do our business.
Safe travel to all heading up, and come on you Rebels!
