Lucas does seem to have been a bit slow to react to the shot if I'm honest

"Felix to Pearce"... hmmm π€ Not wishing to pee on the parade but I think we should bottle the atmosphere and occasion of today, and thoroughly enjoy what may not come in the next eight days too... ...because this very well may be as good as it gets for us for some while. Up or down its all change this summer and its a rebuild with a new squad and a new permanent manager, maybe even in a new league. And that's exactly what crossed my mind shirtly after that goal (well, once my mind had stopped jumping up and down going nuts of course). Next season we may very well not have a Felix to win that possession up the pitch, may very well not have a Pearce to twist and turn a goal out of that situation. Genuinely its a π not a βΉ to observe we should perhaps capture these moments, these feelings of joy, and really treasure them. Today was the culmination (so far!) of our rise from the lower reaches of the ILPD, through that league and maybe though this one too. Success can come at a cost though and the break-up of this most distilled version of Hinsh's blueprints will mean days like today (and possibly Monday week) should be fully savoured. So enjoy it everyone, these are the good times πΒ These are the very best of times, but if we go up, why would the lads want to break up what we have? The team spirit is visibly....brilliant. It's a team of mates working their balls off, playing the best football they can. Maybe we do lose one or two, but if we go up, we should definitely go FT, why can't we keep these lads and sign other top new players? We aren't a poor club by any means, we have proved we can bring in good, new players like Lyons Foster, we have proved we can adapt from Hinsh's blueprint. If our current 3 get the job, they'll have a good budget in NLS to make us a success (not saying we are minted, but we aren't down the lower end either I'm sure). If we get someone new in, they'll have the contacts I'm sure, to bring in some extras to replace what we may lose. We will get players banging our door down to be part of us I'm sure. It's upto us to separate the quality and build the best from that.Β We are a very attractive option, a clearly stable (mentally and financially!) board, a big fan base, a growing club investing on infrastructure. Whichever of the 4 options happen to us (Arrann, Darren and Dean and NLS/National or New gaffer and National or South, it's an exciting time to be a red and there's still a hell of a lot of unwritten pages in our success story I'm sure.

Unfortunately, football doesn't work like that. It's not a team that has gone through the leagues together in any case. We've a couple that have been here a few years but the rest have only recently joined. The opportunity for a player to better himself probably won't come around again so they need to take it. Teams need to remain fresh and provide the opportunity for academy players to progress into it and out the other side.

It all depends what offers are on the table and what's appealing at the time.
Academy is great, look at Brad, Joe, Jasper etc, but should we go up, it's an enormous step from winning U18s Isthmian to getting 50 points in National League, or 80+ points in National South. We saw what happened when Lewes went up to National and did similar. They got obliterated.
We are an attractive prospect. Now, regardless of the result Sunday is the time to build on that.

We aren't a poor club... but we aren't a rich club, by any means.
And if we were to find ourselves in the NL we'd be easily the smallest budget up there.
The sums needed to properly compete would be eye-watering... and chasing it could bring us back down with potentially fatal debt.
We should do nothing we can't pay for, sustainability is an imperitive, a line in the sand we must not cross.

I wasn't suggesting playing someone who hasn't had significant experience of mens football. All the youngsters we play go out on loan first. We mustn't block their paths when they are ready to play.

Never suggesting we go above and beyond what we can afford. Am suggesting staying up in National League hopefully, if we get there, is very possible with the right signings and right coaching.
Maidenhead and Wealdstone did it part time regularly, Dorking did ok last year. A lot of clubs seem to be falling on the 'do the same thing, get the same results', and sign the land of giants as a back 4 and pace merchants and a big old lump up top. We have always done things the Worthing way and done pretty damn well with it, why not carry on with doing things a little outside the box (with plenty of goals in it!) and with a bit of belief, a bit of spirit on and off the pitch and see where it takes us.
As I say, whatever happens, I'm buzzing to see where this journey takes us and trust those at the club to make the right decisions for the club on and off the pitch.

On the plus side we havenβt got Marc White shouting obscenities in the Players/Referres faces and playing the game for them as Kane knows too well.

Whoever stays will of course depend on what league we end up in and who comes in as the manager.
We may be in a position to offer some FT football, and they may rather play FT and start week in week out for us than warm the bench at say Bromley or Barnet.
Whilst we don't have 'Mega money' we with the new stand i believe we have what it takes to survive just about with the right manager and signings.
Look at other sides in the league if we go up I have no doubt we will average 2000 this made up from more invested home fans from these play off's and large away followings, eg woking aldershot eastleigh etc may well bring 1000+ and we could see a few 3000+ days if on Saturdays.
We also have to remember we are not in huge debts paying lots of interest like others in the league, we also use the ground for training and make a revenue out of the 3G pitch which once again many other sides in that league don't have due to FL asperations, so with no money man pumping money in we are on par with many other sides in the NL.
Also a little food for thought if this documentary in well received that could add to any future gates as well, not forgetting promotion puts all NL sides 1 game away from a FA Cup round 1 payday.
First things first we have to focus on Monday with what will be a sell out EVERYONE and I mean EVERYONE needs to be behind the side, every shout of encouragement / clap for every tackle lets do our bit and help the team!

I think we should be realistic about gates next season if promoted. 2,000 is massively over-optimistic.
The increase in away support will be more than offset by the drop in home support once the regular wins many of the newer supporters have come to expect, turn to regular defeats and occasional wins.
A probable restricted capacity from the North side development squeezing the home support into about 60% of the perimeter will put some off too.
...as will the lack of beer pitch side.
