Personally i think David would have produced more goals if he had played up top and we played more direct rather than the play it across the back four and let the opposition get their shape back kind of football. David did well to score the goals he did considering the time he spent out wide. I hope next season sees us play more direct with a higher tempo

Welcome/welcome back to all, not a bad little clutch of signatures yesterday We clearly still need the 'keeper situation sorted and for me an experienced head with bite in midfield, but shaping up nicely.

Chairboy Many thanks for your support of my message. Dawes will get goals that’s for certain. He shoots on sight. Someone call Harvey Sparks, Steve Metcalfe and Ben Pope lets get the band back together. How about a crowd funding page to cover Omar’s wages for a season? I’m sure the fans could do it. Let’s make it happen !!!

First time posting but long time reader. Grown a bit concerned with the way the vibe is going around the club and it’s echoed in here. I have just read the link about trials and find that to be concerning too, is that a thing at this level? I do not claim to know if it is or not, I just think we should have identified the players required and go and get them. Are other clubs doing it?

Welcome aboard Diamond Whether it is a 'thing' or not I can't say but the explanation Hinch gives makes logical sense. By assessing trialists and whittling them down to the very best before pre-season proper, when the 1st team comes back next month the numbers will be more manageable. It doesn't say that all our recruitment options for next season rest with 10 wannabees rocking up for a trial, I'd be surprised and worried were that the case. Irons will be in the fire for direct approaches to players I'm sure... as Hinch alluded to in his earlier Herald piece. He may not go for any of the trialists, i'm sure this process is simply giving the bonus opportunity for someone to come in and surprise him. Paul Sturrock used to do random trials at Argyle, his famous quote was "I'm going to sit on the top of the hill and see if anyone creeps up and bites me on the bum"

That makes sense then I suppose. Nothing lost through trying and seeing what appears. I did see someone mentioned the preseason fixtures and why we couldn’t have approached the higher league clubs some of our star players have gone to - thought it was a brilliant suggestion!

Yeah, I saw that too. I guess had they been direct transfers we could've asked for a friendly as part of any deal. As they were all effective free agents I doubt Bromley, Sutton or Torquay ever even needed to speak to Worthing, let alone offer us any form of good will gesture.

Keithsson , were our players not on contracts ? If so they can't be free agents surely?

I can only assume as per Kenty's post in another thread that their contracts expired at the end of last season meaning they were free agents.
I cannot see many, if any of our players signing contracts longer than 1 year at a time.
