The virus isnt going away, if anything it is getting worse. Most of the country is in the highest tier. End the season now, that way everyone knows whats happening. Friendlies can start in July, most people who are vunerable will be vaccinated by then. Roll the season tickets over to next season.
Just my opinion but I am fed up of its on/off every few weeks.

I must admit I'm coming round to this way of thinking. It seems many are predicting some sort of national lockdown in the new year which I would assume would prevent our league starting then. Rather then paying out wages to players to play in pointless friendlies it would be financially more sensible to furlough everyone and put the club into hibernation.

Fully understand the league being put on hold until January with all the current do’s and don’ts of the tier system. Realistically there’s little hope of a restart before March at the earliest what with the governments bright idea to welcome the virus into our homes over Xmas with the likelihood of a further lockdown in Jan / Feb. I can’t see how the season can run its regular course even if it was extended into June. Best case scenario for me would be to bin the current season and split the league into two from a restart date in March. One league with the Sussex, Surrey and south London clubs and the other with Kent, North London and Suffolk / Essex. Play home and away with winners of each being promoted or play offs semi finals and finals involving top two of each (22 games per club max which could be fitted in comfortably over 3 months playing twice a week). Still struggling to fathom what the point of these meaningless friendlies are at the moment, particularly given that Haywards Heath are charging a tenner to get in !

Welcome aboard Crawley1 👍
The trouble with any of our suggestions or permutations as to how to resolve this season is that it all comes back to the league leadership showing some, well, leadership.
It requires someone to grasp the situation, by all means consult on it but above all MAKE A DECISION. But it seems the only thing the league chairman and vice chairman are decisive about, is not playing football whilst providing the illusion of choice.
Have a Plan A, a Plan B, a Plan C etc. related to the number of weeks remaining in the league calendar. Plan A - If we restart in 'X' month, this is what we'll do and this will be how the season will be resolved. Plan B - if we restart in 'Y' month then this is what we'll do and this it how we resolve things... and so on.
That way clubs and fans alike know with certainty where they're at. We can't just stumble through fortnight to fortnight, teams are risking injuries and Covid spread in what are now totally meaningless friendlies. Forget January, that's gone, February looks iffy even now. Well now there aren't enough weeks left... so, what is your plan?
It's your brewery, you should be able to organise the proverbial.

I think some of the decision making is due to the governments use of tiers. Unlike lockdown, the fluidity means that some areas are ok, others not. For us in Sussex, Hastings is now, essentially, a no-go zone. Im sure the virus will accept its not allowed to cross outside the corridor of tiers (see what I did there!). How can you, therefore, make a decision on a league that spans counties / tiers. You cant and they wont!
Other countries are firmer, its national lockdowns with travel restrictions. Yes thats a tough ask on a population, but this virus kills people. Until the virus is controlled with people vaccinated, then normal life, whatever that is, shouldnt return. To hell with "if its Tuesday, I'm in tier 2, tomorrow I'm tier 3", thats the governments reluctance to shut the country down with all that entails.
Some time in 2021, I want to be able to do the following - See sport with mates and with a beer or three, go to a pub without having to suffer a Scotch Egg and go to see bands live. It will take tough decisions now to make sure that happens and not repeat the disaster thats been 2020.

Good leadership for me means having some meaningful consultations including fans, clubs and players. I totally agree with K re a plan A etc so we, as fans, players and clubs, can think and plan ahead with a degree of confidence that a plan will stick. What we don't want is the Rugby situation of the last 2 days when a governing body says "play" and the club and players say "no way"

The FA should make a decision based upon the governments reading of the pandemic. Therefore, the dithering IS the FA. They have seen the evidence. What do they want, Boris to say Football is cancelled, therefore he is the bad guy? Other companies, and the FA is a company, have made decisions based upon government advice. So the FA need to. They are the governing body of football except for the Premier League.
"The FA sanctions all competitive football matches within its remit at national level, and indirectly at local level through the county football associations." So the FA must decide.

And i do appreciate that the FA have passed the decision to the leagues, thats just, again, making someone else the bad guy.

If I remember correctly the FA ratified the null and void decision for last season so does have some say on this
