That's a shame, club stalwart is Stu 😕 Perhaps an indicator that the regime is indeed going to change. I mean, would he be moving on if Aarran and Buddy were staying on beyond the season?

I don't know why but I have a feeling there will be an overhaul of the squad in the summer including some of our key players moving on.

All dependant on who comes in and what direction we take, you would hope that players and staff alike understand that but I get where you are coming from, I've heard strong rumours Grimsby are in for a defender from us ( don't know what player but been told it's already a done deal!! ) and there have been some strong and consistent performers, especially in the second half of the season.

What division we are in will also play a major part as will our ability to finance wages

And we'll be some way behind the curve with everyone else before we get the stablity players need before they commit...knowing which league we're in and who our manager is.
Being in the play-offs puts us a couple of weeks behind all but a handful in the NL/NLS anyway... but then we've got to install and settle a new gaffer too.
The play-offs are a nice problem to have but it does leave a lot hanging in the wind when everyone else knows where they are.

He is stepping down from the kit manager role, but only because he's intending to develop his involvement in the youth coaching set-up. That's what he told me last night, anyway!

Does this reveal next year as not being full time? Advertising a volunteer role that would be an almost daily affair for training etc. doesn't sound quite right. That, the new manager, new staff, retain list, new signings... So many questions that we will have to wait until May/June/July to find out! Keeps the punters interested! 🙌

Are you suggesting the exciting opportunity to get spanked each week while having most of your beer money removed and your travel expenses tripled... isn't enough motivation? 😆

This may seem counter intuitive given I'm not convinced that giving this job, and crucially at this time, to a rookie manager is perhaps the best course of action.
But there is a case, if he is indeed at the forefront of the board's thinking, for confirming Aarran as the new permanent manager this week.
Making the appointment ahead of the play-offs, and more importantly ahead of the summer, kills dead the uncertainty hanging over Woodside Road.
It could have a galvanising effect, a lift, a clarity of purpose, never a bad thing ahead of big games.
Stopping this elongated limbo period though, during which players will be getting offers from other clubs, may just convince one or two of the players looking at pastures new to consider staying.
Even though I've got significant reservations about it, and also its assumed that by confirming his desire to be considered he's 100% committed to the job (ie giving up his other jobs) I can see some sense in it.
Of course only the board know what his competition is, only the board know if potential experienced NL managers are holding fire to see what level we'll be at, only the board know if there's someone they've already decided on but can't go public on it as he's still currently in employment.
But if there isn't a strong 'iron in the fire' we don't know about then being decicive this week might not be the worst idea.

All I will say is that sometimes someone unproven or unexpected can be a positive appointment!! John Mousinho at Portsmouth was a player at Oxford before his appointment at Fratton Park, he's just won the league one title so...?

A rigorous recruitment process found a highly qualified candidate with the necessary experience of that division. I believe Mousinho was head coach under Karl Robinson. Unproven and unexpected but he satisfied their criteria.
